Arthel Neville of the E! Entertainment channel conducted a half-hour interview with Richard following the completion of filming for his upcoming TV movie "In the Eyes of a Stranger." Richard was wearing a partial cast on his right hand, and he described the injury that had occured while he was in Toronto filming the movie. He talked about how his early life experiences had influenced his direction in life, including the bicycle trip he had taken as a kid. He described his restless lifestyle and inability to settle down despite his deep longing for children. He also talked about staying grounded in Hollywood, his dislike of small talk, his admitted short attention span, and his appreciation for education, learning, and the arts. He expressed his pride in the legacy of MacGyver as a role model and his related work with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and similar charities.
