Richard appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno to promote his upcoming movie, "In the Eyes of a Stranger." He talked about the beard he grew for the movie as well as the cast he wore on his right hand due to a broken bone from a hockey injury. He also spoke fondly about wrapping his "MacGyver" series in December. Joking that he has been growing older without settling down, he referred to himself as a "fungus head" following tabloid reports of a relationship with costar Justine Bateman. Richard had just begun dating Katarina Witt, although in the interview he remained coy, acknowledging only that he was seeing a professional athlete and that their relationship would likely become public after her upcoming competition that weekend.
