Richard began the convention season in April when he appeared at the South Texas Comic Con in McAllen, Texas. There he was reunited with fellow Stargate SG-1 castmate, Michael Shanks.

Throughout the weekend he greeted fans during autograph sessions, participated in photo ops both individually and in a duo photo with Michael, and on Saturday he and Michael appeared together in a joint Question & Answer Panel.

Before the convention began, Richard shared an image of a dog he had befriended upon his arrival in Texas, saying, "Met this guy in Austin."
During the weekend he appeared in a Question & Answer Panel with Michael Shanks, and he greeted fans for photos and autographs.
