AXMINSTER

Axminster is a notorious contract assassin with no qualms about collateral damage when carrying out his missions. He had once killed Sheikh Hussein by blowing up a mosque during prayers and killing 37 others with him.

When MacGyver returned from a mission to destroy a Middle Eastern nuclear facility, he learned from Barney, his director, that he had been identified and that Axminster had been hired to eliminate him. Barney warned that Axminster would torch the whole block to kill MacGyver, and he urged MacGyver to get out of town to a protected safe house until Axminster could be caught. However, MacGyver declined the protection and chose instead to go to Colorado for a long overdue visit with his grandfather, Harry Jackson.

Axminster and his associate, Black, tapped MacGyver's phone messages to trace his location to the small town of Ouray, Colorado, and there a team of eight men in two jeeps set off to pursue MacGyver and his grandfather. Using several clever survival strategies such as poisoned darts in a blow gun, dropping a tree branch on a jeep, land mines made from pine cones, and spontaneous combustion of grain dust, MacGyver and Harry were able to eliminate six of the men. So ruthless was Axminster that with each of the casualties, he simply left the men behind without a second thought until only he and Black were left after tracking MacGyver and Harry to the deserted town of Evermore.

Despite having been wounded when a bullet grazed his lower right abdomen, Harry assisted his grandson in creating booby traps for their defense. He knocked out Black with a piece of wood after having lured him away with the sound of gunshots made by exploding pine nuts. Meanwhile, MacGyver had partially sawed through a column supporting the balcony of one of the deserted buildings, and when Axminster leapt on him from above, MacGyver struggled to get him into position so that he could knock away the column and bring the balcony crashing down on Axminster, knocking him out. Axminster and his men would have been taken into custody as soon as MacGyver and Harry were able to reach the authorities.
