The prim'ta is the religious ceremony of implantation. Among the Jaffa, when a child comes of age and is called to the religious life of his world, he receives his first Goa'uld symbiote and becomes a true Jaffa. The first prim'ta ritual was performed on Dakara at the holy temple, sacred to all Jaffa. As the rite of passage which is believed to grant the Jaffa their strength and longevity, the prim'ta has bonded the Jaffa in servitude to the Goa'uld for thousands of years. Prim'ta also refers to the Goa'uld symbiote itself which a Jaffa carries to maturity. As a Jaffa approaches the age of 140, he can no longer carry a prim'ta, as the symbiote would reject a host of that age.
