HEBRIDANS

Hebridans

The human natives of the planet Hebridan refer to themselves as Hebridan or Hebridian, and are probably descended from ancient Celts who might have come from somewhere near the Outer Hebrides Islands off the coast of Scotland. They were unfamiliar with gate travel, which suggests that the Goa'uld may have taken the stargate with them when they deserted the planet long ago.

Although the cultural and commercial aspects of Hebridan are similar to Earth, their level of technology is far more advanced, due in large part to the Serrakin, a humanoid race that helped to liberate the Hebridans from the Goa'uld thousands of years ago. The Serrakin remained and shared their advanced technology with the human natives, and since then the Hebridans and the Serrakin have lived together on the planet in a racially mixed society.

SG-1 first encountered the Hebridans when the Seberus, a Hebridan prison ship carrying Aden Corso, Lyle Pender, and Tanis Reynard, crashed on P2X-005. Later, SG-1 visited Hebridan at the invitation of Warrick Finn. While Warrick and Carter participated in the Loop of Kon Garat space race, O'Neill and Daniel met with government officials to arrange for a stargate to be brought to the planet in exchange for an ion propulsion engine. The Hebridans remain allies of Earth, however, following the Ori invasion of the galaxy, word reached the SGC that Hebridan was among the worlds to have fallen to the Ori, and contact with Hebridan was lost.
