Richard visited Arsenio wearing a beard and leather jacket, and chewing gum, which he described as an "attitude." The beard was for his new role ("In the Eyes of a Stranger") as an undercover cop, a sharp contrast to MacGyver who even gets "laid." He spoke of the moral legacy of MacGyver and his bond of friendship with Dana Elcar. He talked about once again accepting the role of Honorary Captain of Team USA, and he said he would be attending the Olympics in Albertville. He also gave a thoughtful and careful answer when asked for his opinion about a helmet requirement for motorcycles.
