Proposal #1: Set the canon restrictions of the franchise on the back shelf.. and create an alternate timeline to explore all 3 series. This idea can bring back dead characters, team up unlikely vilains. In this other timeline.. What if a trial project was offered to the Asgard to download their consciousness into willing Tauri hosts who would normally slip into a vegetative state and be declared "dead". "The Asgard wants the ability to procreate, we can give it to them", declares Rodney McKay. All this so the Asgard wouldn't sacrifice their whole race in blowing up their home planet. Or maybe the Time Ship Puddle Jumper could offer them viable genetic material from their own race who lived far in their own past. Either of these options could be given to them after the Tauri accepts possession of the Asgard Computer Core. Both sides win.

Proposal #2: Restructure the premise of having the camera follow the main team through the gate.. by having "A Day In The Life Of A Minor Character" from each series as an epic story unfolds around them. Also for reasons of restrictive canon, this would need to be set in the alternate timeline.

Proposal #3: The story of SG-1.. as told by each of their enemies sitting around a campfire overlooking the last ruin city of the Tauri set afire. Also set in an alternate timeline.

..what is your idea?

Ponderings on Stargate Universe

I was laying in bed last night looking up at the spots on the ceiling and wondering why there are spots on my ceiling.. Then started contemplating the future of the Universe spinoff, namely "where could it go from here?" As I see it, the next followup season of the franchise has no credible storyline structure to continue on. With Destiny course being sidetracked off the previous programmed journey, which was to follow along the installed gate network responsible for resupplying the crew. So no more off-ship stargate use (until Destiny's course realigns with the gate network), dwlindling supplies and "cabin-fever" setting in as the ship continues flying blind. And with there only being a single shuttle to quickly conduct a rushed resupply on a nearby planet without being left behind when Destiny accelerates to leave the system. The "marathon" pace which has to happen in order for everything to proceed toward a successful conclusion.. Would leave little time for subtle narrative plots to develop toward fruition. It would resemble watching a Nascar race from the pit. Alot of yelling, loud equipment noises, everyone in a hurry, cutaway to a watch counting down, add in smoke seasoned with a bit of confusion.. and you have an adrenaline packed episode. But this formula cannot work in the long term. Writers really need to pause or even slow the pace to frame successive episodes with a developing theme that would dig deep emotionally toward making the end season goal all the more satisfying. Writing a successful story that inevitably redefines what it means to be human, valuing the hardships along life's journey which brought them to realize how small our lives are individually. That bringing hope to others in reaching toward that meaningful peace as a group, for our whole human civilization.. was our true purpose. No one really writes on their own tombstone, "if only I spent more time at work". We value the craft of writing psychological elements into a story as it adds suspense, tension, and develops drama. Nascar speed tends to not afford much time on this. However, I have a thought which might help. The use of Stargate SG1's puddle jumper which could travel back into the past.

What if.. An episode opens with an entirely different crew on Destiny from SG1..? A more militaristic and scientific focused ambiance with a few cameo's from the original episode in this "divergent timeline". Just maybe instead of Destiny being sent off her programmed route, the crew instead barely makes it through the next ship-to-fleet battle but loses certain cameo crewmembers due to explosive decompression. Hostile aliens could have boarded Destiny and during the melee fighting, that corridor was part of the section which incurred explosive decompression due to ship-to-ship barrage. Pretty much Destiny would limp from that survived battle and during refueling at a star.. the protective shield collapses due to shield emitters not fully covering the ship's damaged sections due to embedded emitters being missing. Superheated plasma would enter Destiny and as seen from the ship monitor, section after section would turn red as the star plasma disintegrates the ship from the inside out. A final flash explosion of Destiny fills the screen with white.. and the following cutaway scene is at the start of the puddle jumper idea being tabled at SG1 conference room as probably a bad idea.. committing too precious a limited resource (timeship) for a favorable lottery-chance outcome which itself relies too heavily on luck in convincing expediency to overly cautious career minded bureaucracy in the Senate Appropriations Committee, International Oversight Advisory Committee, Pentagon Defense Secretary and Joint Chiefs. As well as seeming to thumb the nose on the accepted sacred philosophy of not wrecking the timeline because no one can foresee all the dirty consequences that could potentially come home to haunt us. Especially if NID sees a precedent on rewriting past mistakes. Trying to alter the timeline has done nothing more than provide Jack with a recurring headache each time the controversial suggestion is raised. "No.." General O'Neil says in a sigh, "we just have to go over all the proposals with more scrutiny and come up with a better way to salvage the Destiny Mission". So the printout proposal of using the timeship to address StarGate command in the past on preempting the Icarus disaster with having the necessary mission team personnel on-site for when Destiny was dialed during the attack which blew up the planet.. Jack O'Neil drops onto the pile of other proposals. Everyone at the table either leans back in their chair with drained expressions, stands up to relieve their tension or else drops their forehead onto the table with a soft thud. Jack stirs uncomfortably in his chair resting the palm of his right hand onto his forehead, lets out a wearied sigh and then calls the sergeant for more coffee.
..........

Perhaps the reason why there isn't a viable story structure for Universe because executives believes the supporting foundation is broken? The ship requires gate access to planets so as to add to narrative variety. The audience doesn't like seeing the same ship interior camera shot over and over and over again in the same episode, episode after episode. And a loss of audience viewership means a loss of financial revenue. So to temporarily replace the need for the gate to carry the developing episode narrative onto a mysterious and new planet (ie: new drama storyline arcs). Something other than the exterior shuttle is needed. Perhaps reprogramming the stargate to send a non-physical matter stream onto a target so that virtually that planetary environment could be scouted. Mmm.. stretching the imagination a bit here, but use Destiny's gate as an energy lens effect similar to an imagining screen to null-dial utilizing the gate's distance modifier. Downgrading the energy requirement of the gate since opening a wormhole isn't needed (no receiving gate) but projecting energy to a target. This may allow for longer transmission times of the gate being active. Or.. if you remember from the actual Atlantis account in our own real-world reality, they had a crystal which was used for viewing locations beyond the horizon. What if the stargate could reflect distant images within it's center area (electromagnetic holography?) as a preview to determine if a shuttle mission was needed. Or a large crystaline disk shape (from Destiny storage?)(probably cracked/damaged?) could be suspended (not to the moving ring) within the central field area of the moving ring to show the image upon?
...........

From passed conversations that I happened upon, to new ones which seem relatable.. the franchise has written themselves into a pickle with not wanting to alienate their fan base but also needing to show a profit margin to investors. So how do we pull a rabbit out of the hat when the hat itself has a big gaping hole in it? The answer, I think, is by using the underlying art of the magician.. misdirection. "In theatrical magic, misdirection is a form of deception in which the performer draws audience attention to one thing to distract it from another. Managing audience attention is the aim of all theater, and the foremost requirement of all magic acts." By leading the audience away from the fact that Destiny's stargate doesn't have another local gate to dial.. the writers would subtly leave that card on the table without touching it. Thereby not seeming to further limit Destiny's options for plausible storytelling. We shift the focal point from the gate, to something else. Like what if Rush could find a flight subroutine for Destiny to orbit a planet by making the computer think a planet was a star for Destiny to refuel at? If the ancient computer A.I. was (slowly) self-learning.. then by the time it learned of Rush's ongoing deception, Destiny would be near the original flight's gate network where it wouldn't matter anymore.

<(@__@)/.. meh, still miss my coffee.
..........

(Post update.. many weeks later to whatever last weekday in June this is)

So.. another juicy thought morsel to consider on having another SGU season to wrap up loose ends.. by introducing a menacing loose end.. in the character of Murdoc (from the MacGyver franchise)

Image

His introduction onto the ship and into the new proposed SGU season is as follows:. As the engineers who built Destiny would know that many thousands of years would have passed before a new Atlantean crew would arrive to finish Destiny's assigned mission. That it would be figured that the new generation of Atlanteans would be unfamiliar with such old tech as what Destiny was constructed with. So just as in our own real life experience in needing a "help desk" technical support call center to clear up most technical misunderstandings about the included instruction sheet boxed with a recently purchased technology product. So too the original engineers were forward thinkers and adequately addressed this concern. They left one of their young assistants in cold storage to later be awakened should the arriving end-mission team of Atlanteans require technical in-depth assistance. However things do not always go as planned and it wasn't a team of Atlanteans which arrived onto Destiny to be responsible for the end-mission.. but lower consciousness minded human descendants. "Murdoc" was never awakened from cold storage as no one knew he was there. At the opening of the new season (maybe a flashback at the end of episode 2), "math-boy" monologues how he didn't have the energy to individually deactivate each cold storage suspended animation containment pod. So he pulled a main breaker switch to deactivate all of them at once. Each pod hisses as ancient defrost mechanisms begrudgingly awaken to perform assigned task of reviving their contents. The camera slowly pans left going through a back wall bulkhead and into another room containing empty pods except for one containing Murdoc. Who was very much the teenager when he was placed into long term cold storage, to now be an older (per his current physical appearance) man whose mentality is still that of a mischievous teenager (per his character on MacGyver). As an Ancient, he would be unfamiliar with the English language so remotely he would study these new arrivals to Destiny. Attempting to imitate their words like a parrot (understanding would come later). Upon learning that they were interlopers and definitely NOT the Atlantean generation which were expected to take over the mantle of responsibility for this great mission embodying all which is of Atlantean "Hope"... Murdoc's browl becomes creased with indignation and cold detachment on the future prospects for these fragile intruders. And eventually, he makes his debut to the crew as he speaks perfect English and presents himself as to assist them. O'Neill comes onboard through the communication stones to officially interact with this representative of the builders of Destiny. Both men, size up the other.. and sense a person to be very mindful of.

Around episode 4, the script exploring more of Destiny ends with a crewman severely injured and placed on the makeshift medical examination table receiving treatment (some provisions provided by Murdoc from ship stores which he remembered seeing stocked there long ago). The information which Murdoc provided was accurate, though missing in certain areas of needed information that led to the injury. Murdoc stands back, and purposefully apart from the business at hand occurring in front of him, field dressing the wounded. Murdoc then was asked to leave the recovery room by Everett Young as Greer takes offense of all the popularity among the crew which Murdoc hasn't deserved but received in merely.. "showing up late to the party", followed by odd coincidences happening in his wake. Tamara Johansen is treating the injured crewman, both in good prospective moods with the resupply of their dwindling medical supplies with top notch Atlantean curative salves and regenerative ointments (of which cannot be replenished). As Mathew Scott returns from securing the door, Tamara Johansen confides that they shouldn't hold Murdoc accountable as he is simply the messenger providing information he observed from the design engineers themselves. Greer, under his breath, admits that he just doesn't like Murdoc. That there's something he can't place his finger on, but he knows that he shouldn't like Murdoc. Everett Young takes in everyone's opinion, lets out a sigh, and says that regardless of how old he looks in comparison with being a full grown adult. That Murdoc is still essentially just a teenager, an assistant who probably ran errands for the engineers as Destiny was being constructed. That Greer shouldn't have any misgivings about feeling intimidated by a teenage errand boy. Greer simply looks at Everett Young with silence. Meanwhile, as the episode ends, Murdoc walks the hallway back to his assigned cabin, further down and separate from those belonging to everyone else. Passing a person on his left going the other way, Murdoc smiles and continues on until the hallway becomes empty and silent.. save for his lone presence.. as it should be. His forced smile then becomes genuine as he slowly walks confidently the remainder of the way in the vacant hallway. "Information comes at a price, Everett Young. A cut finger, a sprang ankle, a dislocated shoulder, loss of an eye, chemically burnt lungs, dismemberment.. What price tomorrow will you offer for the information I retain still in my memory, of those who built this ship now destined for sorrow. And the secrets she still holds within her." He giggles a little, then in becoming aware of the observation capacity of the kino system, straightens up and hurries this pace.. a bit more than leisurely.

Image
In a later episode, when crew members take a brief shore leave planetside, a narrow pair of large eyes with basic intelligence watch them, studies them from the nearby forest overgrowth. The crew are wearing very little, much succulent flesh is seen in these prey. Their defensive armaments are cast away outside of reach, it would be so easy.. the hunger burns for this.. their scent enraptures the predator's nostrils. A great paw of the spotted coat predator steps forward, stealthily. Smaller pair of eyes watch the predator silently in the overgrowth from behind and downwind of it.. until the awareness of their presence was required as it was now, with a cough. On the beach, the air is filled with gleeful screams of fun as everyone gathers for a beach volleyball game.. Girls vs boys, the endless confrontation once more ensues with playful taunts and skilled teamwork. Deeper in the shadows of forest canopy resembling Vietnam, the large predator (like a lion crossed with a monkey, reminiscent of the winged monkeys from the movie "The Great And Powerful Oz" <Wizard of Oz remake>) circles this lone prey, sizing up an advantage, then pounces. The lone figure plants his feet and catches the predator paws and holds firm to his position. "You will not kill them, nor harm their innocence in any manner with your disgusting presence". Says the lone figure as he starts to buckle as the predator weighs heavily with ferocious intent upon him. "You.. will.. n..ot.." The lone figure cripples the predator wrists the twists underneath and to the side wrapping his inner elbow around the predators neck in an armlock. The winged monkeys attempts to take flight in dealing with an unfamiliar attack, getting about 40 feet off the ground before slowly and sluggishly lowering back to the ground.. the life of the predator ceases and the lone figure rises above a strangled corpse. "You will not harm their innocence nor kill them. That responsibility.. is mine alone". Moments later someone from the volleyball game runs after a ball which strayed close to the treeline. Out walks Murdoc whose hands reaches into the sand then picks up the ball throwing it back into the game. He is invited to join in, but he politely declines saying that he would prefer to sit back and just.. watch. A salt laden ocean breeze reaches him from the direction of the group.

For a brief moment, Murdoch allows himself to lower the walls that had held firm around his always-alert always-on-guard consciousness.. to relax.. and breathe in air that didn't carry the metallic scent of aged scrubbers. To let his guard down and simply "be" in this moment. He can close his eyes and simply from the scents alone carried on the breeze, follow the game.

From the treeline, several pair of eyes.. like the first pair, steadfastly watch the activity on the beach. The pair of eyes belonging to an impatient and unseasoned youth, motions toward the seemingly defenseless crew. The weary eyes of the pack leader, closes then opens again taking one last look at the slender beings whose screams do not carry the note of alarm nor fear.. but something else the old alpha male could not quite comprehend. Was it that these strange beings, had no fear amongst them toward the predatory tribes of the lowlands? Could this be a feint.. a trap to lure more of his kind to their death. Was the first kill.. simply for sport? Were they wanting more.. sport? Already the aged alpha could smell the body fluid of his former packmate adrift on the breeze from the direction of these slender beings. He saw one of them, the one who watches, look his direction then luck their palms and smear their saliva into their hair before their gaze returned to the activity on the beach... With that, the weary eyes disappeared from the treeline and the alpha being gasped his spear and headed toward the corpse. The others would have prepared it for travel by now. The young packing again motioned toward the beach and the defenseless prey, this time motioning with his spear. The aged alpha made a clawing motion, then pointed toward the beach, then his head motioned side to side. Pointing again toward the beach, and then slammed his fist into his open hand, then broke the younglings spear before pointing at the youngling. "Danger.. trap.. predators all.. kill and break you they will". The concept thought was difficult for the impatient youngling to grasp. All younglings believe they are mighty.. and immortal. The aged alpha motioned the group onward, toward their caves in the mountain at the edge of the other side of the forest. Their patrol along their disputed territorial boundary was successful. Now they return with one corpse. No.. we are not immortal, simply hanging onto this existence by a harrowing measure. These slender beings, are not like their sworn enemy who stealthily raids nearby camps in the middle of the night to steal food and the females. No, these slender beings welcome confrontation head on.. maybe for sport, or a test of strength for their young. Either way, they are not to be angered. Best to struggle with the devil you know than to be confronted with one you don't. As his group disappears into the deep forest, only the birds remain to watch downwind the one who downwind watches over the others.

(SGA Season 1 Episode 12: The Defiant One) I am referencing this original wraith who fed on original Atlanteans. The wraith is much sturdier and stronger than current era wraiths who fed on weak human stock. So Murdoc, being an older generation Atlantean, would likewise be of hardier stock to stand against the monkey-lion predator. This is my supportive thought, at least. Murdoc needs to be revealed to be more dangerous than what he appears to be (which is a weak skinny man).

Otherwise, like current era wraiths, you end up with a weakened protagonist who, left with no other option, tries to weaponize wraith humor.

https://files.fm/u/vnzvmkdha
..it doesn't end well.

** It should be mentioned that throughout the proposed new season, the ("wolf in sheep's clothing" bad boy) character of Murdoc is slowly and subtly foiled by Vanessa James who unconsciously is drawn to "bad boys". Murdoc himself, having only been familiar with Atlantean women with flat chests (in my experience), doesn't quite know what to make of Vanessa. So he isn't aware of the subtle influence she is having on him. Their relationship is never defined, as they never really got around to figuring that part out.

Re: How Would You Restart Stargate (SG1)(SGA)(SGU)..?

Post by Salem Moses »

Some pretty good ideas came to me in pondering the Stargate's potential for interesting stories. I'll try to do them justice with what images I can come up with.

One of the ideas which caught me by surprise, was to NOT risk doing a new season (reason seemed inline with product marketing risk management). That it would be more plausible to do a straight-to-dvd or netflix-type mass media outlet for a 3-show addendum to each (SG1, SGA, SGU) franchise series. Like how "The Lost Tales" was an addendum to the Babylon 5 series..

Image

so too the premise holds sound for a short term contract production for Stargate. One separate followup story set into the future of each franchise series (SG1, SGA, SGU).

β–‘β–‘ SG-1 Franchise β–‘β–‘
Image

"The Lost Tales" Premise: (story tapestry resembles a Sherlock Holmes & Watson -vs- Moriarty Psychological Thriller) No Earth has not been conquered by the Goa'uld, but years after knowledge of the Stargate was made public, an architectural boom occurred whereas more public spaces were using Egyptian style architecture. Also these public spaces made for a "familiar setting" for Jaffa travelling to earth in trade. As most naquadah mines are still overseen by the remnants of the Free Jaffa Nation, earth-locked corporations vie for lucrative non-naquadah mineral contracts with the Free Jaffa Nation. With the fall of Dakara from the Ori invasion, Free Jaffa are willing to partner with earth technological and heavy equipment contractors to rebuild a better Dakara for all Jaffa. In this "world" setting, the protagonist is more a concept of political tension as a "Now Public" Stargate Program becomes obsolete and shuts down. Career Politicians associated with the original Stargate Program, have long succumbed to public mistrust of secret black projects. The new political climate has adjusted to the black-eye of a shadow government, and promises there will be "Peace In Our Time" by any means necessary (including cutting deals with the devil). The Next-Gen Stargate cadets, now serving the Pentagon as private contractor liaisons, start noticing a buildup of armament manufacturing and consolidation of key wartime industries. They attempt to bring their concerns to veteran stargate personnel (Jack O'Neill, Samantha Carter, Daniel Jackson..) but bad luck keeps them narrowly missing them. Their own superiors brush it off as a post-conflict need for that familiar adrenaline rush fueled by an overactive imagination. High ranking Jaffa are seen blending into Corporate America wearing business suits and armed with both a financial backer and political capital.. begin anew their ancient rivalries, opening their war chest of Goa'uld system lord artifacts. On a barren planet somewhere in the territory once belonging to Baal, a small corporate group watches a weapons test which pleases the unnamed silent investor. A gold circular pendant bearing an Egyptian Eye is draped upon his chest by a long braided golden chain. Upon this new colorful tapestry of intrigue and without the interference from another system lord.. the age of Ra has returned.

And within this alternate dimension, the Ori did not impregnate Vala with a daughter who would become the Orici.. but rather a son. As within that culture, the man is far stronger and more willing to bear the harsh journey to spread the word of the Ori throughout the far galaxy. The Orici's given name.. is Gabriel. "Gabriel's" biblical meaning in hebrew is "God is my strength". A most perfect counterpoint to "Daniel" (Jackson) who foiled our reality's Orici.

With their civilization rescued from the brink of extinction through the use of the Time-Ship Puddle Jumper to access a much earlier time in their history in order to secure viable genetic samples toward kickstarting their own ability at procreation. The Asgard High Council has agreed to cooperate with the Atlantis endeavor in securing the Pegasus galaxy, making contact with other technological civilizations still in hiding. As an addendum to this cooperation, is the reintegration of the Vanir back into the gene pool of the Asgard respective biome. The biological and technological distinctiveness which the Vanir possessed, would be added to Asgard's own. (Note: In a sense, this version of the Asgard would wear a mantle similar to the borg. Which would put Vanir in spacesuits in hand-to-hand combat with the cybermen encountered in an alternate reality by the Daedalus).

(A rough idea requiring more polish): Touching on the concept of past life regression, that Camile Wray (Human Resources Officer with the International Oversight Advisory) could use a necklace as a pendulum to lull to regressive sleep one of the civilians that died on Planet Eden (the manufactured planet which had the obelisk). During the regression, images could come to the surface as to what appearance the entities looked like (where they physical, ascended, or an energy based (spirit form) entity. And what sensory memory could be remembered in association with the entities (ghost encounters are with sensation of cold. The more intense the encounter, the more shivering the cold sensation. Encountering a malevolent spirit (for example) would feel like you're soaking wet then stepping into a walk-in freezer.. though I now believe this particular sensation is a defensive measure keeping that malevolent spirit at bay. Friendly ghost sensation feels as if you're in the breeze current of an air conditioner, but not near an AC. Another type of sensation is feeling a very slight cool chill rise off of you as if in evaporation. Like when you're really hot and can feel the sensation of heat waves rising off your body. Same but with cool sensation). The purpose would be to provide a reference should Destiny's actual end mission encounter the builder/engineers who are the same race as those who returned the dead civilians (and remade the shuttle as if it just came off the show room floor) from Eden back to Destiny. Where Eden's engineers bipedal (similar to human-form), octupai (which on earth shows tremendous puzzle comprehension abilities), and if they were physical or ascended. A few facts here and there could help form a better understanding about the true value of Destiny's destination.

I am of the thought, there is a connection between the chamber housing the Attero device and the obelisk of Planet Eden.. in underlying design principle rather than subsequent function.

(I'll disclose details later..)

Looming Concern On Destiny If New Season Is Made

~ Seen on internet here first ~

A technical issue which just occurred to me.. over pizza. If a kick-started Stargate Universe continues from where the last season cliff hanger left off (Rush/Eli steering Destiny into deep space and away from the Stargate network)..

(*takes in a breath*)

The communication stones won't work, and Destiny would have no way to communicate with Earth. The reason the communication device works at all.. even several galaxies apart, isn't magic. But employs a communication technique straight from our own real life application of technology. AND believe it or not, the Ori helped improve the quality of interstellar transmission to/from Destiny through the Ori supergate. Now that I think about it in hindsight, I don't know why I didn't realize this earlier.. given my electronics engineering background. I can be such a fuddlehead.

I'll ellaborate on this and include pictures when I get back to my home laptop. I'm currently posting this note from my cellphone on my way back from work.

.......... (now updating this after distracting myself with Stargate Auction) -----------

The General Idea..

Image

Use of Stargates to act as (cellular/microwave) repeaters to allow communication between distant points through "handshake" (technical comm concept) between repeaters. And I need to address in-canon use of correlative update for dhd's to compensate for stellar drift.. according to Stargate Omnipedia:
Stargate Omnipedia wrote:A natural phenomena by which stellar matter gradually drifts apart over time as the universe expands outward, eventually making some Stargate coordinates determined many millennia ago to be invalid. The Stargate networks are believed to have a built-in protocol to counter this by automatically dialing one another at regular intervals to update their positions.

These correlative updates allow the Stargate symbols to continually work after hundreds of thousands of years.

But the correction protocol depends upon a gate being connected to a D.H.D. On Earth, the S.G.C.'s dialing computer must calculate the approximate drift in order to determine if a Stargate address needs correction in order to be dialed successfully. This would be done by using the existing, 7-symbol address to locate where the planet was located in the galaxy hundreds of thousands of years ago
Now this works if there is a DHD accompanying the stargate. However, SGU planet bound gate network doesn't have a DHD.. So how was stranded away team members able to dial multiple gates successively in order to catch up with Destiny if there was stellar drift? If you think outside the box, it is plausible that there is a tenuous link (think multiple tuning forks vibrating at a very low frequency with very low energy) between resonant gates which were NOT created prior to the use of DHD's..
((Update 7/13/2012:
Image
Milky Way galaxy gates CAN be used as antenna to bridge communication from source to destination without activation of the event horizon gate feature. Shown is a large communication sphere suspended within the area of the stargate. Apophis is communicating through it. NOTE there is no event horizon, just energy streaming from the gate to the orb about every 7 seconds. Even if the orb was a pre-recorded message, the energy drawn from the gate itself signifies it is not in a "sleep" mode state nor inactive. The gate remains in an charged -resonant active state.)
..the gate network left by Destiny was engineered to NOT REQUIRE DHD correlative updates. Yes, an active wormhole is used when physical matter is sent through the event horizon and to share data through a resonance dilation distance modifier in each DHD (determines how far from previous reference the target gate has drifted). But what if energy itself in the form of a standing resonance wave were to be the catalyst? Would an active outgoing wormhole be necessary or could such a low power coherent energy source utilize that tenuous connection if the stargates themselves where always in a primed/charged condition (imagine signal fires stop distant mountain peaks to relay a simple message "enemy" back to the capital city for which they were built as in the "Warning Beacons of Gondor")?

Image

In effect, using them like a cellular repeater. The Supergate of the Ori would cover a much larger area and could broadcast much further into deep space (like a radio telescope array).. if used in this manner. We've already seen in-canon use of the obelisk sending out an energy signal which alerted the creators of the Eden planet to come investigate. If you limit energy transmission to the speed of light, then that obelisk signal wouldn't have travelled very far in only a number of weeks/ months. So it is my thought that the obelisk, like Destiny's stargates, vibrate on a very low frequency enabling subspatial layer communication to travel farther faster. And similar to how radio telescopes can work as an array to increase their effectiveness, the linear gate network left behind Destiny would connect (offer a ring tone for a call) Destiny to Stargate Command.

So when Destiny changed course and went into deep space to avoid successive blockades, Destiny also left the cell repeater network. So if there is a new season, Destiny would be operating under a communication "black out" with Earth. That is, until Destiny reenters the network from a point further along it's route (bypassing those hostile blockades). At this point, General Jack O'Neill would establish communication with Destiny (or vise versa) and he would "meet" Murdok who has already established himself into the social/political environment hierarchy. I think the season would find a fitting end, at this point. (MacGyver) meeting his arch enemy (Murdok), like a shephard spotting a wolf already comfortably among the sheep.

Now getting back to Stargate composition. In canon information tells us that the Stargate is a superconductor and that it draws energy from the Sun. Now if we continue our thought-project in that a Stargate vibrates down into a subdomain of the fabric (membrane) of spacetime. If a resonant fractal antenna was incorporated into the Stargate..

Image

We would have multiple possible communication bands, and the Sun would charge a gate which would cause it to vibrate into that sublayer and therein connect (provide a dial tone) for long distance comm channel to Destiny.

One of the properties of fractals geometry is that it can have an infinite length while fitting in a finite volume. The radiation characteristic of any electromagnetic radiator depends on electrical length of the structure. Using the property of fractal geometry, we may increase the electrical length of an antenna, keeping the volume of antenna the same.

By the Stargate creating a charged resonance into subspace, would it not then act as a suitable repeater as pictured far above?

I know.. quite the rough draft.

Re: How Would You Restart Stargate (SG1)(SGA)(SGU)..?

Post by Salem Moses »

Post-it note from cell phone on way home..

Image

Just had an epiphany at work on the proposed restart of Stargate SG-1 which is currently being commented about on YouTube.. with little to no speculation. Just really.. nothing to talk about.. for about 20 minutes.

So here at RDA forum, you will find quality speculation in the most reasonable manner that the proposed (-is "relaunch" the correct adjective?) may entail. The loose details that I have come across are:. "There will be a new gate, built by us". And that "Amazon's recent data analytics show more women being interested in Stargate than in Star Trek". Hmm.. let's have a "no touch" policy concerning the fairer fanbase (they know what they like) and instead conduct a deep dive speculative session concerning this one reluctantly touched upon detail of a new gate program.

(Ahem.. 1st time intelligibly speculated about on internet)
(disclaimer: that I know)

(1): The original "Ancient" Stargate will be decommissioned because humanity ("the 5th race") will have constructed their own Stargate.

Image

(Images of Titanium single-address single-use Stargate made in Samantha's basement which would be reference model for larger multi-address mult-use functional gate. Images of Future of "1969" episode when the Ancient Stargate was mothballed)

The most likely reason for this, other than hubris, is in fact to address the technical limitation of the original Ancient Stargate with a new network of gates that it cannot address. Even without a DHD.. the computer interface is still limited by symbols that the gate simply won't accept. Hence, a new gate is needed. SG-1 original gate was considered an "analog" model, SGA the "digital" (not really) model. SGU the "binary" (hmm..numerical distance modifier?) model. So what function then, should a manmade gate envision? (I'll give you till I get home to answer this easy question)
(2):. What species will be out there for us to reasonably contact? At least one species has been already made canon, and I would expect that a new Stargate program to encounter them by the close of season 2.. when Earth would need an ally (or at least have made contact with the canon race which would later come to Earth's assistance)
(3):. Will the new Stargate program remain within Cheyenne Mountain? This is a coin toss, in my opinion. I'll provide pros & cons to both the continual use of the Cheyenne Mountain complex as well as likely alternate secure locations that may serve the Stargate program better.
(4):. Also.. I forsee technical drama which would even excite Rodney McKay. Perhaps with this new gate program, since both Rodney & Samantha would respectively obligated to attend to their independent responsibilities.. Atlantis/Rodney & USS General Hammond/Samantha.
(5): A new science person would be needed to fill Rodney/Samantha's shoes on this new gate program. Would anyone else be better qualified than (former Air Force cadet) Jennifer Hailey. A young astrophysicist for a young program. In her debuted in the Stargate franchise, she fit the age & role as a new Air Force Academy cadet. Now a number of years later, she would be more "seasoned" in her career associated with the gate program. So that as an older and more mature woman, she can believably co-captain a team as a 2nd in command to a more weathered veteran. Not sure who or what the alien species would be to essentially act as a "Pocohontas" (or Teal'c) liaison to the beings along the new gate network.
(6): Spoiler (not really) the archaeologist that would "fit" this new SG-1 dynamic as a replacement for Daniel Jackson with a very human familiarity with anyone regardless of rank heirarchy. Which I think perturbed Jack O'Neill to some degree.. because of an inept initial sense and unintentional disregard of established military decorum (is "protocol" the correct pronoun?). Who else would more typify the level of (forgive me for this..) "nerd" which needs to be part of the new SG-1 dynamic than this guy..
Image

..Robert Carradine.

~ Random Race Generation For New Stargate Series ~
...... Remember, each line is randomly generated ......
...... I sincerely try to provide artist credit, if possible......

Image

The appearance of this race is based on the Native American People.
They are a Scholarly race.
Their social structure is like that of the Cat.
The culture is inspired by the the Polish People.

They are generally Generous and Patient and Mean toward other races.
They are generally very Attractive.
.....

Image
The appearance of this race is based on a Rat.
They are a Barbaric race.
Their social structure is influenced by Age.
The culture is inspired by the the Cambodian People.

They are generally Wasteful and Selfless and Inadvertently Racist toward other races.

A likely bar scene may have a drunk wake up to seeing a thin man (Robert Carradine) "eyeing" this drunk's girl. So the drunk somehow stands up to find a sense of circular balance and stumbles across the room to pat this book'ish thin man at the bar to ask, "..are you eyeing my girl?". The SG-1 member shrugs off this bothersome man and returns back to having a conversation with the person next to him about local ruins (if any). Again the drunk taps him on the shoulder, "I think you're eyeing my girl.. fella". Again the thin archaeologist of SG-1 lightly grasps the drunk man's hand off his shoulder and "shoos" the drunk to leave. Now irritated, the drunk looks deep to his left (and almost falls), then deep to his right (and almost falls). Seeing no one around who would take up for this oddly dressed thin man sitting at the har.. the drunk takes a roundhouse swing to punch the 5jin man but misses and punches the person to the archaeologist's left. To which the drunk man apologetically says "I'm sorry honey, I didn't mean to hurt so pretty a flower as my beloved angel. Will you forgive me dumplin?". To which a brawler looking man with a beard and the same hair color as 5he drunk's girlfriend, stands up to tower over the drunk by a foot. Haven been punched in the back of the head which caused the brawler to empty his beer onto himself, he replies "Sorry.. no, but you're gonna be when I get done with you". Then the brawler punches 5he drunk man who sound around facing the rear camera.. smiles widely then falls to the floor. Sensing things getting lively, someone breaks a wooden chair across the brawler's back which just irritated the brawler. Then, a typucal bar room brawl starts. The thin archaeologist jumps behind the har to take shelter underneath.. when he sees a bartender weapon hanging on a hook. A very old version of a Zat'nik'tel, perhaps around the time that Unaa ruled the system lords in ever decreased numbers.
......

Image
The appearance of this race is based on a Fae.
They are a Playful yet Manipulative race.
Their social structure is influenced by Class.
The culture is inspired by the the Brazillian People.
The concept of "consequences" doesn't really seem to apply to individuals of this race. They age very gracefully and their eldest living member is around 350 years old and is similar to the appearance of a 50 year old Earth female. They are not descendants of Ancients, just very skilled at manipulating energy within themselves (but forbidden to touch the energy of others or their own would become stained).
They are generally Uneconomical and Envious and Close-minded toward other races.
......

Image
The appearance of this race is based on the Malaysian People.
They are a Calculating race.
Their social structure is like that of the Bee.
The culture is inspired by the Ancient Chinese.

They are generally Creative and Merciless and Racist toward other races.
They are generally very Hardy.
......

Image
The appearance of this race is based on Dust.
They are a Responsible race.
Their social structure is like that of the Cat.
Their homeopathic culture is inspired by the American Indians.
Their lifestyle is like that of the Recluse

They are generally Generous and Suspicious and Mean toward other races.

(See Post below on how I propose to save the Asgard race for the new Stargate series

Image
The appearance of this race is based on Water.
They are a Knowledgeable race.
Their social structure is like that of the Wolf.
The culture is inspired by the folklore of the Irish People.
Their lifestyle is like that of the Thug

They are generally Economical and Suspicious and Disgusted by other races.
......

Image
The appearance of this race is based on the Forest.
They are an Advanced race.
Their social structure is influenced by Class.
The culture is inspired by the Ancient Greek.

They are generally Wasteful and Humble and Ignorant of other races.
......

Image
The appearance of this race is based on the Thai People.
They are a Manipulative race.
Their social structure is like a Lone Wolf.
The culture is inspired by the the Welsh People in that they wear fierce animal coverings to guard their vulnerable appearance (come to think of it, perhaps their culture mythos had it's beginning when a small Jaffa Guard ship.. after having suffered initial damage in hyperspace from a nearby binary star exploding.. damaged systems bleeding into non-damaged systems.. The Jaffa Guard could not prevent the growing instability from reaching the hyperdrive which suddenly dumped the ship into real-space with a shearing vibration nearly tearing the ship apart. With hull sections having buckled, much of the onboard atmosphere was evacuated to open space. The pilot now missing, being thrown through an opening in the hull, the two remaining Jaffa Guard struggled to make planetfall but crash landed near a wooded area. The children onboard (Goa'uld Unas adopting the habit of enslaving children of rebellious conquered villages to then after many years of brainwashed indoctrination. The children, now grown into Jaffa Warriors, to return as oppressors in service to their Goa'uld Unas) were in the cargo hold (. being more reinforced and with embedded inertia dampers to protect any diverse variety of precious cargo meant for their System Lord). As the children escaped the cargo hold, they found the crew dead and were awestruck by the armored head coverings which protected innocent flesh beneath. The bodies were immediately burned in keeping with their indigenous religious beliefs). After a millenia, a traditionalistic group had long settled to watch over their mythos heritage of the craft which delivered them here as if by Fate. While an offshoot group had migrated toward the East Coast to pursue another path of destiny. Their focus was more subduing of nature than coexistent harmony with it as were the tribal people.

The "People of the Land" developed a lifestyle that is like that of the Traditionalist. They are generally Guarded and Hostile toward other races.

The "Industrialist" Eastern population are more interested in how technology can improve their lot in life yet are more individualistic than a community.
......

Image
The appearance of this race is based on the Puerto Rican People.
They are an Unreasonable race.
Their social structure is influenced by Knowledge.
The culture is inspired by the the Caribbean People.

They are generally Industrious and Patient and Close-minded toward other races.
They are generally very Short.
(*Note: This description reminded me of the Star Trek Voyager episode when they encountered a more advanced race of arrogant isolationists who were short people). Hmmm.. maybe.. this race could have had contact with the elusive Furlings in their ancient history, of which they still retain the early library books on. But they refer to their ancient library records as "Books of Knowledge" instead of library books.. since their civilization age ..now is currently all digital -OR- their planet is a sandy wasteland and thus they have no trees to render into paper for books. And the "Books of Knowledge" they refer to, are actual human beings in suspended animation with their knowledge of the old ways still intact.. mostly.

.. possible Furling race depicted below in concept art.

Cameo Opportunities for Woolsey In New Stargate Series

Along the use of the new gate system as dropped by Destiny's seed ships, would mostly be barren planets (devoid of intelligent indigenous life) rich in mineral resources. Being as how there would be no need for trade agreements, political promises or other obligations.. AND the need for more minerals in which to continue building Daedalus class battlecruisers. Stargate's International Oversight Advisory would become more involved in resource mining these worlds which would bring Woolsey into the franchise through cameo's.
Image

This would also provide for the debute of a Stargate Team which we have never before seen.. SG-23 (Field Police). As civilian contractor hostility surges in thinking that the corporation management are making deals with Woolsey behind closed doors. SG-23 would engage in riot control as another couple members of the team have been knocking on doors to locate witnesses for Woolsey in providing guilt or innocence of the claims which is causing the workforce strike. The SG team would consist of BIG and intimidating men, and one fragile regular sized young woman. She would be Hispanic and would counterpoint the "hard diplomacy" which the "Boyz" (her pronunciation) usually handle. She would be the Human Resources "softer diplomacy" asset to the team in situations in which hard muscle isn't the right tool to utilize. She would be the one knocking on doors looking for witnesses.
Image

In the framework of mining operations, the story arc could include unearthing ancient (pre-Atlantean) civilization ruins (artifacts) which may become a prelude to a future episode in which the after-cataclysm remnant descendants of that civilization are encountered on another world. Perhaps they were a starfaring civilization before their sun's magnetosphere flipped and allowed gamma rays to pour out (Gamma Rays instantly burns flesh), which killed off the planetbound inhabitants of that civilization and rendered their space faring infrastructure as untouchable (..being within the danger zone of the localized gamma ray emissions from their sun)
....

Image
In another "Off-World Mining Operation" episode, there could be a workforce strike, a cessation of operations. During a contracted operation, employers are permitted to engage in activities that will not interfere with an employee's ability to balance their on-duty/off-duty activities. Psychologists encourage corporate entities toward a healthy balance which would minimize turnover liability and unnecessary onsite investigations. Just as the Stargate Program is overseen by the International Oversight Advisory, the off-world contract disputes are overseen by another political committee. If threats of reprisal, promises of benefits, or other actions would serve to coerce employees, an unfair labor practice (ULP) charge may be brought against the employer. Woolsey would utilize his corporate law experience in finding a workable middle ground if the unfair labor practice would be set aside to deal with as a separate justice matter.

"..Entree SG1 please."

Image

An idea for an episode which starts in the mess hall as a visiting political attache' loosely comments to the base's senior officer about noticing the ambient stress level having climbed a bit since they toured the facility earlier that morning. The senior officer guardingly replies that a gate team assigned to one of the new gate addresses provided through the ai (artificial intelligence) cognitive program (determining stellar designate locations of star systems along Destiny's proposed early route departing from Earth but still within dialing reach of our new enhanced gate, and running through most probable astranumerical coordinates in correlative processing from data dumps of astronomical observatories in order to get a tangible lock on a prospective gate address) was initially late in contacting the base through our scheduled comm attempts. The more recent transmission was the team under fire from unknown assailants, followed by more static. In an attempt at raising base morale, soldiers have been independantly turning in lunch orders for "Entree SG1" to connect their prayers directly to that ops team. It's a mindset of soldiers, to give of themselves toward the wellbeing of another. This is the only way that stationed personnel can do anything for them who are not directly involved with the mission. Two of the more simpler yet most defining motto's we soldiers take to heart.. "service" and "leave no man behind" connects us on a metaphysical level, one to another.

As the Mess Hall kitchen staff bewilderingly hands out the same entree to each soldier in line, commenting on supplies for that item is running rather low, the camera pans right -through a wall to a distant action scene of an entrenched SG team returning weapons fire as good as they've received. Their automatic rifle magazines starting to run rather low in ammunition. Then the camera pans left -through a tree and enters the Mess Hall kitchen from the wall as another soldier arrives to place their meal order.

Kitchen staff member> "I guess you would like to also order the SG1 Entree as well."

Soldier intending to place their meal order>. "..indeed."

From the rear of the kitchen, a fresh supply of MRE "Entree SG1" arrives to the delight of the kitchen staff as the camera pans right -through the wall to a distant action scene as reinforcements arrive with SG teams 21 & 24 providing logistical support through ammunition resupply to the entrenched SG team while also flanking the enemy.
........

Stargate Team Designations:
(Largely includes material for other SG teams referenced from Stargate Wiki. SG-1 foreward penned by me)

Image
SG-1 = Exploration (Normally a 4-member team comprised of self-sacrificing highly skilled individuals who are representative of unique disciplines (termed "assets" valued toward a mission's success) yet open minded enough to incorporate elements from others on the team into themselves in order to perform at a stronger level.. to not bring their teammates down. Though their respective areas of expertise and experience differs greatly,, each member has adjusted very well to being on the primary ops team as to cover most any contingency met off-world. On field missions, working as a team to size up potential threats is the most basic of the basics toward almost becoming an automatic reflex (in corporate terminology this is referred to as "reading the room"). But only a very few can make full use of the technique. The rest just go through the motions without any strategic intentions. One should survey their surroundings as they first step out from the event horizon. Looking around gives them a grasp of the field at that moment. Knowing what type of threats were around them, how many and what needs to be done in planning the next move. It also demonstrates to any potential opponent that the newly arrived team were aware of their surroundings, having taken their measure against that which may confront them, and were thus duly prepared. Performing this simple action discourages potential opponents who had observed the caliber of warrior which just entered the theater of operation. As well as fostering a psychological framework affording their SG teammates the comfortable feeling of linking up to cover one another's blindspot). Lastly the trait shared among the most successful teams is the "honesty" (not "willingness") to accept failure. No matter how fervently one trains and prepares themselves for adverse circumstances in life, our best efforts will eventually be met with failure. Accept that you came up short and move on. Don't hold grudges against a team mate for not covering you.. for superiors not providing more detailed Intel on what/who you may be confronted with along the way ("the devil is in the details" -as the old saying goes).. or the adversary themself for taking the lives or else severely injuring yourself or a close team mate. Grudges grow to possess us, replacing prudence and common sense until we throw ourselves as cannon fodder sacrifice at that which we should leave alone for the time being. Grudges also chip away and weather over time a once strong and cohesive bond and relationship until you find yourself eventually alone and lacking essential resources you had once relied upon and trusted. This is usually when you're confronted with a situation in which you (now) cannot win. Great teams accept that they won't always be met with success. That they learn more (both individually and as a group) and the bond as a team become stronger from each failure than through whatever could have been learned from each success. A great team.. hopes for the best, plans for the worst, and does their best with what resources they have available at the time (imagine a team consisting of not 1 but 4 MacGyvers). If a team were to imagine each mission along similar lines as going into a Las Vegas Casino.. where stastically over time the House always wins it's pound of flesh. Then it's just a matter of how much flesh each team member is willing to risk/accept in having to give up and how often (all at once or gradually over time).. depending upon whatever poker hand that Fate/Destiny deals them that round. In life as in poker, every hand is a winner.. every hand is a loser. It's just how you play the hand you've been dealt that decides how well or not that you end up.. in that particular round. And the longer a team remains in the field of operation, the greater the probability of encountering Fate/Destiny at the poker table. One last point of note:. Be wary of those who refuses to accept the somber responsibility in which they will be required to give up something important and personal. Because each day, potentially.. is our last or of someone close to us.

SG-2 = Exploration/ Research/ Search & Rescue (This team participated in the liberation of the Jaffa penal colony on Erebus. In an alternate timeline created by SG-1 traveling back in time 5,000 years, most of the team were killed while trying to escape back to the Time Jumper after freeing SG-1 from the Jaffa penal colony.)
.....

Image
SG-3 = Marine Combat Unit/ Search & Rescue (This team provided backup to SG-1 on a mission to P3X-797 "the Land of Light": The planet is divided into two sides, the Land of Light and the Land of Dark. P3X-797 was a planet in the Milky Way galaxy inhabited by a Bronze Age human civilization. The planet is evidently in synchronous rotation with its sun, thereby making one side of the planet, the Land of Light, a land of eternal brightness and the other side, the Land of Dark, a land of eternal darkness where the Stargate was located. At least one member of this team became infected by a disease that turned them into a Neanderthal. Upon being struck with the disease, the team member was ultimately banished to the Land of Dark where other Neanderthals often lives in various groups, occasionally attacking each other. An antidote containing a histamine derivative was created and to be used in air rifle darts which SG-1 and SG-3 had managed to heal everyone with who was infected with the unknown disease. After being healed, the affected all returned to normal.)

Image
SG-4 = Medical/ Exploration/ Russian Unit (This team consists of a Major, Lieutenant, Major, "Specialist", a Lieutenant Colonel in Russian Airforce who brought Alebran from P3X-367 to Stargate Command to inform them that Nirrti was experimenting on his people -the Lt. Col later died from Nirrti resequencing his DNA.)
.....

Image
SG-5 = Marine Combat Unit (The Tok'ra have found a gravitational disturbance, which may be an Ori incursion. General Landry sends SG-1 & SG-5 a nearby planet P3X-584 to investigate from. The team returns to the gate room unexpectedly: they were on the wrong planet. Suspecting that something's wrong with the Gate, Landry suspends all Stargate activity. After some searching, Carter and CMSgt. Walter Harriman find some sort of anomaly (a "bump") in the Gate's logs, which Carter suggests might be a safety protocol that prevents unwanted people from gating in. Since it would take two weeks for the Prometheus to reach the planet, Carter tries to override the safety protocol and succeeds. Carter and Harriman find multiple "bumps" in the Stargate logs, and it is soon determined that these anomalies were the receiving gate sending out a request for a seven-code combination. Unlike the initial M.A.L.P., organic matter that has not delivered the correct combination before arrival is "call-forwarded" to a random Stargate address. Carter devises a program to crack the combination, and during the next try a bacterial culture has been placed in the M.A.L.P.'s cargo compartment. The cipher works and the probe arrives on 584. SG-1 and SG-5 follow. SG-1 and SG-5 arrive on the correct planet, where Carter finds a device connected to the Dial Home Device. Fortunately the gravity anomaly was simply an uncharted black hole and not a new Ori threat. )

SG-6 = Search & Rescue (This team developed symptoms of the Prior virus within a day of getting back to Stargate Command from P2X-885 and was immediately quarantined. Their commander died a few days later.)
.....

Image
SG-7 = Scientific/ Medical (Consisting of a Commander, Major, Captain, 3-Doctors and a Specialist. This team was assigned to oversee the Douglas Mclean Memorial Observatory on the planet Hanka that was built to observe a Black hole. Their commander was killed when Nirrti released an Engineered Virus on the population.)
.....

Image
SG-8 = Medical (This team consists of a Captain, Lieutenant, and 4 Specialists)
.....

Image
SG-9 = Diplomatic (This 7-man team, which consisted of a Major who was also an attorney, went on a mission to Latona to re-establish diplomatic relations with that planet's inhabitants, in episode "Sentinel". Their major and half the team was killed by fatal staff blast wounds from Jaffa during a Svarog's attack on the planet. The next team included an anthropologist, which on the planet Avnil the native Avnilians treated them as gods as per their gate mythos. The team's anthropologist encouraged this as would make their ongoing presence more accepted, which led to an abuse of the indigenous religious belief system with the team leader accepting the role as their returned god. But a lone team member who objected to this abuse of power, returned with SG-1 to right a moral wrong)
.....

Image
SG-10 = Military/ Exploration (This team went to the planet P3W-451 for standard recon, only for it to be caught in the event horizon of a newly formed black hole, resulting in the team being lost.)
.....

Image
SG-11 = Archaeological/ Scientific/ Exploration (This team oversaw the Naquadah mining operations on the planet P3X-403. When an Unas attacked and killed one of the team members, their commander -Colonel Martin Edwards, wanted to attack the Unas but was ordered otherwise by Colonel Jack O'Neill. Later on a dig on the planet P3X-888, the team pursued an Unas named Chaka after he kidnapped Dr. Daniel Jackson. When they reached a lake, they were infested with Goa'uld symbiotes which inhabited that lake.)
.....

Image
SG-12 = Military/ Medical (This 6-member team currently consists of a Major, Lieutenant, and 4 Specialists)
.....

Image
SG-13 = Survey/ Covert Ops (On a mission to P3X-666, this team found ruins of an Ancient city. While exploring the ruins, they ran into a Goa'uld Reconnaissance probe)
.....

Image
SG-14 = Exploration (This 8-member team consisted of a Marine Major, another Major, an Air Force Captain, another Captain, an Air Force Lieutenant, another Lieutenant, a Sergeant, and a Doctor named "O'Neil" -with one "L" referenced by Jack O'Neill has having no sense of humor. One of the missions this team was involved in was to the planet P6Y-325 where they made contact with the local primitives known as the Lasarians. While there, however, the commanding officer and his team were captured by an unknown Goa'uld who successfully brainwashed two leading team members into becoming Za'tarcs ("sleeper agent assassins). As such, both team members were given memories of fleeing from Horus Guards and making it to the Stargate (It is presumed that after both Za-tarcs were returned back into their group's holding cell, a staged escape was engineered to allow the team to return back to the SGC through the stargate). The commanding Major of the team continued his normal duties, and was sent with SG-14 to support Earth during the negotiations between the Tau'ri and Tok'ra. While on Vorash with SG-1, the Tau'ri were introduced to Per'sus and immediately the commander's Zatarc brainwashing took over. Quickly constructing a weapon of unknown Goa'uld design, the commander fired on Per'sus but was unable to kill him as another Tok'ra jumped in the line of fire. Though SG-14's brainwashed commander was obviously in pain (*) and was trying to fight off the brainwashing, he was unable to do so.) (*see note below)

Image
SG-15 = Exploration (This 4-man team consisted of: A Colonel, an Airman, a Lieutenant, and a Doctor. Major General George S. Hammond was going to send this team on a mission to determine if the Aschen homeworld was the planet that had been removed from the Dialing computer a year earlier, but was stopped by the President. A year later, they helped the Tok'ra evacuate their base in the Risa system to the Alpha Site. They then guarded the Stargate to keep Anubis' Ashrak from escaping. After the Sebrus was found on P2X-005, the team were brought in to guard the Stargate. SG-15 later joined SG-1 in their attempt to free the planet P4S-237 from the Goa'uld Mot. They were captured by Mot's Jaffa but later freed by Natania. They were able to get back to the Stargate and reach Stargate Command to secure reinforcements.)
.....

Image
SG-16 = Scientific (This team consisted of a Lieutenant, 3-Doctors, a Specialist, and led by a Colonel who originally was assigned to Area 51 as an NID Major responsible for the various research labs for medical, geological, space metallurgy and artifact studies. Also the two death gliders SG-1 had used to escape Apophis's mothership when it was about to attack Earth. One research study lab was reviewing Daniel's notes which he brought back from "Heliopolis" on Ernest Littlefield's planet. This team was tasked with studying and activating the Orbital weapon on Velona. They worked with Major Samantha Carter to adapt a Naquadah reactor to the weapon to replace its power core. The reactor would successfully power up the weapon, but in order for it to do so, it could not be stopped in transferring its energy or it would explode.)
.....

Image
SG-17 = Exploration (This team went to Revanna to take part in a tour of the Tok'ra base. The entire team, save for one, was killed in a cave-in when the Goa'uld Zipacna attacked the underground tunnels. The surviving member, Lieutenant Kevin Elliot, had earlier proved his worth during an elaborate recruitment SGC test alongside Lt. Jennifer Hailey, Lt. Carol Grogan and Lt. Satterfield. Elliot was saved from the Tok'ra cave-in only because of the emergency implantation of the Tok'ra symbiote Lantash. Lantash and Elliot gave their lives to save SG-1 and Jacob Carter when they realized that Lantash did not have enough strength to repair Elliot's injuries and save them as well. Elliot/Lantash were given a vial of symbiote poison, one that was powerful enough to eliminate the entire occupying force, and, presumably, used it on them to give SG-1 and Jacob Carter enough time to escape the planet.)

Image
SG-18 = Marine Combat (This 6-man team consists of a Marine Lieutenant Colonel, Marine Major, Marine Captain, Marine Lieutenant, Marine Master Sergeant, Marine Sergeant)
.....

Image
SG-19 = Covert Ops (This 4-person team consisted of a Covert Operations Major, a Covert Operations Captain, a Covert Operations Lieutenant, and a female field medic named Ryder who later was stationed at P4X-351 and was in the 80-person group who were forced to evacuate Icarus Base during an attack by three Lucian Allience Ha'tak vessels. She ended up on Destiny, an Ancient starship located several billion light years from Earth. During the Lucian Alliance invasion of Destiny, she used the Long-range communication device to switch bodies with Dr. Timan in order to treat the wounded. One can highlight that Ryder may be a very discreet person as even Camile Wray, who is the head of the Icarus personnel human resources, has difficulty to remember her name. To avoid Destiny's destruction in running a gauntlet of guarded stars for refueling, the starship's course was changed to deep space. Ryder entered a stasis pod along with the others respectively for the trip to the next galaxy. In an alternate timeline, she chose to return to Earth, but like everyone else except for Colonel David Telford, didn't make it and was presumed dead. However, she ended up on a planet that he and other survivors called Novus, 2,000 years in the past.)

SG-20 = Russian Unit (This Russian Ops team accompanied SG-1 to uncover a missing Russian team on P2X-338. However, in the process one of the secondary Russian Ops team was attacked by a Carnivorous creature and became unconscious from its poison. After the encounter in the tomb, the recovering Russian Ops soldier was the only member of their team that managed to have survived. They were later recovered and questioned by Colonel Chekov, where they answered truthfully. Afterwards, they were taken back to Russia, where Colonel Jack O'Neill suspected that the recovering Russian soldier was coerced into lying to tell them that it was SG-1's fault that the mission went awry. Russian Air Force Colonel Chekov was Russia's liaison to Stargate Command)

SG-23 will be deployed with the new ARX-160 Security Forces rifle from the Beretta Company. Included are a rifle launched drone to monitor one location for duration of battery charg's e -remote/reusable, pink smoke grenades (psychiatrists all agree.. the color "pink" does more to soften an angry mob than any other color as the aerosol dye doesn't wash off easily), and a metallic mesh covered zat'nik'tel charged bean bag contained within a blue tipped shell (viewing product demonstration requires a level 2 security clearance, unless you're on the receiving end and about to be handcuffed). In addition, the ARX-160 normally carries a magazine of rubber bullets. Full-metal lethal-force bullet magazine exterior color coded red and strictly requires team commander to authorize use of.. under penalty of military tribunal investigation for misconduct and disciplinary discharge preceding jail time. The ARX-160 Security Forces SG-23 rifle is a peace time armament and not intended for theaters of foreign conflict.

SG-25 = Army Combat Unit (This team often undertook undercover and stealth missions on other planets, though they were also adept at rescue missions and were often deployed in order to render assistance to other SG teams. On one of their undercover missions, to the planet designated P9J-333 by the Tau'ri, the team were given Sodan Invisibility devices and tasked with monitoring the Ori Prior who had been sent to convert to planet to Origin. While using the devices, they unwittingly unleashed an Interdimensional parasite from another dimension. This bug mutated one of the planets local animals into a vicious beast which then attacked the team. Though they were all badly injured, Vala Mal Doran was able to use a Goa'uld healing device to heal their injuries and saved their lives. Teal'c later reported that it was unfortunate the commander's superior abilities as a tactician had failed him when he was attacked by the beast, but that he looked forward to seeing SG-25's commanding officer back in active duty.)

* From experience, it is through great strength of will that struggling with an outside malicious influence over our limbs is overcome. But only.. just barely and with every tensed fiber of a conscious being manifesting through bodily perspiration and exhausted muscles. The difference between myself and SG-14's commanding officer, is that the act of killing was not foreign to him and thus more a part of his being. Whereas my own was distinctly the opposite, and quite a foreign concept.. but of another nature. And covert safeguards unique to me have been addressed to ensure this struggle never recurs. In silence, the loss of the Marine Major was mourned.

~ A Woolsey Episode ~

(Synopsis of New Series Woolsey Episode In Progress)

Background: A resource rich uninhabited planet located early into Destiny's journey from Earth, accessed through the new Tauri built stargate. A mining conglomerate was awarded the contract to mine naquadah, titanium, and other metals which would be processed into building materials for the Daedalus class shipyard. However, strife among the workers toward management has grown to now have resulted in a workforce shutdown with a labor strike. With the supply line of raw material coming to a halt and Daedalus fleet ship construction slowing to a crawl, the International Advisory representative Woolsey was tasked with bringing the mining operations back online.

A rival mining company whose growing debt has become more difficult to manage, had opted to influence a supervisor on the mining project to instill distrust among the workers toward management and for the supervisor to delay provisions meant for morale to the point of frustration. Food shipment mishandled, personal items lost in transit (just like losing luggage at the airport), crates mislabeled "Food" for "Equipment" and vise versa. Laundry machines breaking down, electrical power disrupted, personal "mail" video files from family accidentally deleted.. that sort of thing. The rival company wants a bad review along with a messy human relations management record to be the icing on the cake for a strike. If the International Oversight Advisory deems the current mining contractor to be unreliable in meeting the terms of the contract for shipment timetables. Then a contract clause could be applied in which the mining job would go to the 2nd choice contractor. The influenced supervisor would have been seduced by the promise of promotion to an onsite manager as well as perks associated with such a responsible position "..as his current experience would become invaluable when the new conglomerate takes over mining operations". The rival conglomerate would want this to happen as it would provide them a favorable status to then bid more successfully on future contracts on other uninhabited mineral-rich worlds.
...

Woolsey first appearance is him on the phone in a personal call in which he is overheard talking to (someone named "Mara") who is apparently pregnant and Woolsey speaks softly on the phone about how pampered she is and how much he looks forward to seeing her when he gets home. The secretary to the office of one of the Advisory Committee members can't help but overhear Woolsey and clears her throat in polite manner. Woolsey says goodbye and shuts off his cellphone. Looking up slowly, he wears no expression and returns to the semblence of professionalism. The secretary motions toward the open door which stands the Advisory member who silently waits for Woolsey to meet him officially. Signalling his secretary, the Advisory member follows Woolsey into his office. Woolsey is offered some refreshment but declines, then the Advisory member walks from the private bar back to his ostentatious leather executive chair with a window view of the cityscape below.

Image

Meeting with the point-of-contact from the International Oversight Advisory, Woolsey is brought up to speed with mineral contract delivery timetables becoming a real problem and that the Daedalus construction shipyards have been put on standby until more resources become available. It's been literally weeks since the miner strike with no real progress made in returning operations back to normal. That the protection of Earth and her allies relies upon those Daedalus ships being finished. The Advisory member stands at the window, looking downward at the busy streets below. "I know from your resume, you have handled yourself quite successfully in very difficult circumstances. Since you've seen the horrors of what lives out there in the dark, I believe that I have chosen.. a good man for this task."
...

Woolsey is escorted by SG-23 through the new stargate and onto a noisy planet in which discontent is measured by the yardage of raw material not being mined. Heavy equipment sits cold in the November rain.. Woolsey looks up and wonders if it is actually November here. Burying himself deeper into his dress overcoat, he makes his way through the slop and the mud to where the noise is coming from. Another group of unpleasant workers given to yelling and not listening. A smaller group of supervisors stands in front of the small administrative building complex trying to use their university psychology training to deflate the situation.. to negligible effect. Like shouting into a thunderstorm, all you get is.. "wet". The crowd parts when the lead of SG-23 fires his handgun into the air, then holsters it. Woolsey walks forward to meet with the supervisors who lets him into the building. The female member of the SG team stands on a chair in front of the administrative building entrance and speaks loudly to the crowd, "Okay people, eyes on me. I need everyone's eyes on me". She asks for the crowd to divide into three lines for their voices to be heard, females center line.. males under 30 to the left.. males over 30 to the right. She stands in front of the middle line, notebook pulled out from her backpack and pencils down names of each woman and bulletpoints the issue of their complaint. SG-23 Commander and 2nd in command each takes one of the other lines. The rest of SG-23 stands in front of the administrative doors which Woolsey walked through.

(Note on new security forces armament, It's a regular stock high caliber military issue for all Stargate Teams, but with an additional modification of having a Zat'nik'tel charged "soft grenade" (end of barrel adapter as in Vietnam) launcher which launches multiple charged "bean bags" into a crowd of rioting civilians and thereby immobilizing the core of any group through shock

Image
...

Toward the end of Woolsey's meeting with the onsite conglomerate management liason (actual project manager is conveniently back on earth for their safety and manages the site by proxy through supervisors). Woolsey is given supervisor access to incident records in order for him to get a background of the troubles which have been plaguing operations here. He is provided lodging in a spare office-recently-turned-VIP Suite. Woolsey's wearied expression is in realization that he doesn't look forward to getting any sleep anytime soon, still he thanks the attending supervisor for such luxury. Meanwhile, SG-23 makes camp in the lobby of the small administrative building, and takes shifts on perimeter patrol. The next day, the woman member of the SG team is knocking on doors in the encampment to follow up on the complaints which they were noting down earlier. Perhaps in the bunch, someone would divulge something more meaty in the way of a testimonial. While she attends to "soft diplomacy", her backup helps get an air conditioner unit back in operation in the room next door. Conspicuously remaining nearby if needed, yet allowing privacy for her work to succeed.
...

In this scene, Woolsey is back on Earth and in the office of the Advisory Committee member to provide a tentative progress report of his findings. They are not happy that things are going so slow, and expresses the need for him to hurry things up. Woolsey states how he is following up on witness testimonials as another path toward resolution of the workforce strike. The Advisory member is unhappy about the time wasted on even more paperwork with witness statements and more firmly encourages Woolsey to focus on suppressing the strike. With the SG team, he has options.. if he would simply use them. Woolsey starts to disagree in principle, but is stopped mid-sentence as the Advisory member rotates his ostentatious leather executive chair toward the window. "How is your new family doing, Mr. Woolsey?" states the Advisory member, looking downward toward the busy streets below. It is in the late evening and streetlights have lit up the view of foot traffic coming and going. "You have a child on the way, is that right?" Again, the Advisory member asks a question that goes unanswered. He rises from his leather throne and stands at the window, looking down on all the people he sees beneath him. "Look at all those people down there in that noisy commotion. Walking back and forth, to and fro. Either in search of work.. or in search of food. Such busy commotion simply to purchase a bit more influence with what little time each of them may have left. The whole world revolves around one thing or another, but for our kind the currency of the day.. is influence."

Image

Woolsey just stares at the blankness of the moment. Camera view of bottom half of Woolsey's face as he grits his teeth. "Your point..?"

The Advisory member opens with a sigh. "It's a volatile uncertain job market out there, Mr. Woolsey. No one really knows if their job will be there for them next month, next week.. or even tomorrow. Unexpected turns in the market could cause layoffs, good people going hungry.. and things progressively grow darker for them after that. You're a family man now, aren't you Mr. Woolsey. A loved one at home and a baby on the way.. as I overheard it earlier." A deafening silence hangs in the ambiance of the darkening office. With a difficult swallow, Woolsey clears his throat and tensely states, "..are you threatening me?" The Advisory member momentarily looks away from his entertainment at the window toward Woolsey to assess his level of emotional aggression but only sees a blank slate, then returns to his favored distraction on the streets below. "..my apologies, I must have been simply thinking out loud. You may leave now, Mr. Woolsey, I believe you have business elsewhere to attend to. And one last thing, the others may be hesitant about the delicacy of your particular skillset in handling something as explosive as this emergency can ignite into. But I still consider you a good man for this difficult task. And a good man is never.. without options. Good day Mr. Woolsey."

(more tomorrow, starting from this cliffhanger and diving into a surprise cameo appearance before ending with an unexpected plot twist)
......

Mr. Woolsey meets Earthside with the Mining Conglomerate's general manager in order to more directly receive an administrative point of view of why things went south unaddressed as they did. Sitting for what seemed like an hour, Mr. Woolsey looked at his watch on the walk out of the manager's office and was surprised that only 15 minutes had elapsed. So much was spoken by that man, yet there was no real relevance which connected to the events he witnessed first hand when SG-23 escorted him to that mining camp operation. There's clearly a disconnect, somewhere, Mr. Woolsey had an unsettling feeling inside which he couldn't put his finger on. What missing piece of the puzzle should he be looking for? Then his stomach grumbled, and he realized that disturbed feeling inside was his hunger. He looked at his watch, time was ticking and he was a servant to lists and schedules. He travelled back to the new stargate program to brief operations, then to have them dial the gate on the current mining planet. Stepping through the event horizon, Mr. Woolsey was met at the stargate by a wall of muscle in the form of one lone SG-23 team member who was stationed at the stargate awaiting his eventual return. Mr. Woolsey's stomach growled again at the smell of the chocolate protein bar which was still being finished off by the team member. "Just escort me to whatever passes as a public cafeteria here, I'm in more need of food than decorum". With that, he stepped off the gate platform and his first foot went deep into muck, pulling his foot up missing the shoe.

Image

"..just another day in paradise, huh Mr. Woolsey?", said Graham, the SG-23 team member who reached into the muck to retrieve Mr. Woolsey's missing shoe. Mr. Woolsey is handed a rather unsightly clump which once was his prized #558 Black Calfskin Leather shoe with Erco leather heels and full leather lining which he recently purchased from Alden's Shoes. Dumping out the muck, he begrudgingly removes his other shoe and both socks, then walks toward the encampment on bare feet. Their food store had better be worth it, he thinks to himself.

(Timestamp in lower right of screen changes, as does scene to more relaxed setting)

Image

Scene, personal administrative office afforded to Woolsey for his official machinations as a lawyer and diplomatic. Papers strewn here and there on an otherwise neat and organized office desk. Woolsey slightly hunched over on personal project of watch repair. Similar in nature to his profession as a lawyer as well as a diplomat, handling with delicate care of putting together small fragile details which forms a working model of a larger concept. Woolsey strangely enough finds this activity to be quite relaxing. At least these small pieces won't have political connections or personal favors to call in which could result in an investigator unceremoniously found dead in a muddy ditch outside some no-name town or else their family members secretly abducted and used as collateral. No, surgical watch repair follows a more logical and less deceptive progress of events, though the stress level is surprisingly similar.

Into the room comes one of the SG-23 members to check on Woolsey, who hasn't been hearing the comm chatter on the walkie. Lights on the Stargate was activating.. someone or something was already enroute travelling through a wormhole tunneling through the fabric of spacetime. Woolsey's focused attention is reluctantly drawn from his pursuit of engineered perfection, to the tap on his shoulder from the SG team member. Coming back to so-called reality, Woolsey lowers his headphones which "What's I've Done" by Linkin Park could be heard. This takes the SG team member by surprise who call it out, "..you listen to LInkin Park? I thought you more the tuxedo concerto type". Woolsey continues to face forward, his weary eyes on the clockwork task at hand, and replies, "A mix tape, on MP3.. though to have seen LInkin Park live in Red Square, Moscow 2011.. in Russia would have been icing on the proverbial cake. But I could only get it through pay-per-view, as I was otherwise engaged in a briefing on a legal matter.. which is still classified." Woolsey carefully places his watch parts back into a small armored case labelled "Diplomatic Personal Effects", stands up and with the tip of his right forefinger, pushes up his glasses onto the bridge of his nose and attends to the SG member to receive the news.

SG Member> "Mr. Woolsey, you wanted to be notified when there was stargate traffic inbound, and the miners have all been gathered around the area of the stargate.. as you have instructed."

Mr. Woolsey> "Good, thank you lieutenant. Though it's a bit early, I'm expecting that the inbound traffic would be a VIP guest which I scheduled with Star Gate Command to provide as a Human Resources liaison to help with this mission. A guest speaker to address the miners of the larger picture at play here. That and along with a measure of prudence, I should hope to effectively end this miner strike and subsequent mission in the next 23 hours." (Digital Time Clock appears in lower right hand corner of screen, counting down from 23:00) Mr. Woolsey steps to the office window and looks out in the direction of the stargate, one of the last surviving remnants of a race known as the "Ancients". A simple bracelet on the ground, waiting to adorn the right arm of whoever is strong enough to claim it. "We just have to play the cards which we've been dealt this hand, and through negotiation or fakery.. to survive the round till the next hand is dealt." Interlopers they all were, cattle rustlers making off with prime beef off Mother Nature's ranch. Still, ships are needed to be built to replace those lost in battle, and our influence ferried upon each ship. The minerals here are to bolster that fledgling fleet with even more ships. Naquadah research being conducted in hopes of providing a more durable plate armor. All those hopes, hang within a noose about to pull taut from this miner strike. This has to end.. and soon.

Image

The final light activates on the Destiny network stargate with a familiar 5th Dimensional compression wave explosion erupting from within the gate ring. On this previously uninhabited world, rich in naquadah mineral and untouched by oppression or malice save that of the natural law of survival, out of the shimmering event horizon, steps out 2 serpent honor guard of Apophis. One subdues a nearby SG-23 team member while the other bears their charged staff weapon aimed at the gathered crowd of people at the stargate. Nearby SG-23 team members draw their rifles, replaces their gun-loaded civilian ammo clip ("rubber bullets") with a red ("deadly force") clip. Barrels aimed at the two new arrivals standing in front of the event horizon, fingers on the trigger awaiting their commanding officer's order of authorized use of deadly force.. to open fire.

(more to come)

(Note to self: Thursday, Aug 25th.. Youtube video bit to lubricate synaptic neuron flow in higher brain function for continuation of storyline)

Woolsey's diligent attentiveness to detail in accomplishing the assigned mission task provides political capital to corrupt IOA chairman.. before the rug is pulled out from underneath him.. through Woolsey's diligent attentiveness to detail.

~ Saving the Asgard Race for the New Stargate Series ~

Image

Yes, even in sleep.. our minds wander and explore a universe of possibilities. I am a victim, of my own curiosity. Sorry in advance for keeping all of you up and awake to read this on your flickering LCD computer screen. I just want to go back to sleep. ..head hurts.

(*ahem*)

As mentioned in one of the posts above, most of the planets which contain a gate dropped by Destiny's seedship (yes I know the rebuttal on this in advance, but am not going to disagree with you on principle on account of my migraine at near midnight and I have to get up in 4 hours) are barren of indigenous intelligent life and are appetizing targets for mining conglomerates. No alien diplomacy, no trade contracts, no mining restriction due to environmentally friendly religious beliefs, no.. nada.. nothing. Just open season for anyone with a hard hat and a shovel. Anyways, of the few planets which harbor discernibly intelligent humanoid life, one is a direct tie-in to the early more-humanoid form of Asgards.

Image

As you already know the canon reference concerning the original Asgard form before genetic manipulation happened to extend their lifespan (and made them shorter)..
Physiology. Over 30,000 years ago, the Asgard were a tall (approximately 2m), generally humanoid species that reproduced sexually. Their physical forms changed gradually when they began to use scientific means to artificially extend their lifespans.
We reasonably speculate that the earlier form of Asgard had spacefaring capability as this earlier form was discovered off-planet from the Asgard homeworld. Now.. I will reasonably put forward the thought that the earlier form of Asgard had indeed come across the planets in which the Destiny gate was deposited for future use. As the planet was pleasant enough and was "gifted" with a gate from their "then ascended and no longer around" Ancients ally. The earlier form of Asgard set up a colony on this particular planet in hopes that their longtime ally may one day reappear through their stargate on this planet. Also, as it was off-network from the Goa'uld, they did not have to worry about gate access from their enemy. All was safe, all was well. Then for some reason, the colony was forgotten as the Asgard pursued genetic manipulation in order to extend their lifespan. Maybe also they were preoccupied with suppressing Goa'uld incursions. Or perhaps both reasons along with the earlier form Asgard changing one of their planetary gas giants into a 2nd sun. Good intentions seldom go unnoticed by Fate. This had an unexpected impact on global climate and the whole planet slowly turned into a much dryer planet, maybe even a "Dune" planet, leading to a decline of their colony's vitality. Perhaps having two stars in a one star system, created unforeseen rotational wobble which caused a small planet or two to go off their orbital trajectory path. Planets collide, or maybe the gas giant exploded causing a small "nebula" effect in which the Prometheus stops by and is pursued into the nebula by a larger spacecraft. A planet within a nebula system would/might have a sky which is always "overcast" (neither sunny nor dark). This change in the local planetary system may have hidden the fact that there were planets within that nebula. What if.. that ship were actually descendants of the early form Asgard who hold that region of space as sacred. Like a great grandchild wanting to protect their long deceased great grandparent's homestead from trespassers. But the descendants in that larger ship never realized their kin were indeed alive and still living on a planetary system within that nebula.
'
Successive generations of the colonists living under an always-backlit sky would still retain the basic elongated head and spindly limbs on a slim torso.. but their skin would appear very pale. But their level of intelligence would wane over the countless millenia. When the new Stargate team travels through the gate to th"a trace of something that is disappearing or no longer exists.")e address in reaching this planet, they encounter this race which, at first, spooked them (they do look like ghosts or something). SGC medical would want a blood & genetic sample for catalogue purposes and also to test for known/ unknown bacterial/ viral antibodies suggesting the (once) presence of a bacteria/ virus that may be a reason to delay interacting with this species. After the blood tests/ genetic samples are DNA sequenced, a genetic link to the modern era Asgards was discovered. From this time on, Jack O'Neill takes up the burden of investing resources to ensure this last vestige (definition: -a trace of something that is disappearing or no longer exists).

I would think it a display of compassion for Jack O'Neill to personally want to spend time as a "retirement option" liason living with these "Early Asgards" in similar manner to how a healthy family member would be near a close relative who is restricted to a nursing home.. and in a sense their former "presence" just isn't quite there. The light bulb is on but no one is home -sort'ov thing. Jack's role would be like a caregiver, helping with spring boarding their learning within a school structure system, in order to inevitably provide them with the very same technological database "gift" which Thor entrusted to Samantha Carter and the rest of humankind. Jack would want, to return to these "Asgards" what was theirs to start with.. the gift of knowledge.
