On May 29th, the Canadian SPACE channel televised the Third Annual Spacey Awards which honor the finest in science fiction film and television. Unlike other awards shows, the Spaceys are hand-delivered to the winners, and this year, Stargate SG-1 was recognized in two categories. In the People's Choice category, Stargate SG-1 was named the favorite Canadian series for the third year in a row, and this year Richard Dean Anderson received his first award as Favorite Male Character for his role as General Jack O'Neill. Richard accepted his award dressed in a suit and tie and scuba gear while treading water in a swimming pool, and the show returned to him periodically throughout the broadcast to cover his long and meandering acceptance speech.
