MacGyver People Magazine's Special Collector's Edition for the summer of 2003 celebrated its choice of the one hundred greatest TV stars of our time. Richard Dean Anderson was recognized in the category of "Making Their Mark," which the magazine described as, "Playing more than just parts, they created role models that defined our times or changed our look, or outlook. TV Zone Once again TV Zone featured an issue devoted to Stargate SG-1 with its Special Issue #52. The special look behind the scenes of the seventh season also includes interviews with director Martin Wood, members of the design team, and the entire cast.

SG-1 As season seven of Stargate SG-1 debuted to record ratings, and MGM announced that the series will be renewed for an eighth year, Richard spoke with the "Vancouver Sun" about juggling his personal and professional lives, and about his decision to return to the series for another year. TV Guide Stargate SG-1 had the prestigious honor of being the cover story for the July 26th edition of the TV Guide. The article declared Stargate to be the biggest hit that the Sci Fi channel has ever had, and it also officially announced the renewal of Stargate SG-1 for an unprecedented eighth season. SPACEY AWARDS
June 27, 2003

SG-1 On June 27, the Canadian SPACE channel televised the First Annual Spacey Awards which honor the finest in film and television in the genre of science fiction and fantasy for the year 2002. The Spacey production team visited the set of Stargate SG-1 to hand-deliver its award for the Viewers Choice for Favourite Canadian TV Series. Click here for pictures from the event.




SCIFI ONLINE CHAT

O'Neill Richard talked to fans and answered questions in an online chat hosted by SciFi.com. Speaking live from the set, where he was occasionally called away to film another scene, he spoke about what fans can look forward to during the upcoming seventh season of Stargate SG-1. SEASON SEVEN OF STARGATE SG-1 DEBUTS ON SCIFI
June 13, 2003

SG-1 Stargate SG-1 returns for its seventh season with a three-hour special on the SciFi channel on June 13th. Beginning at 8:00pm is a behind-the-scenes special entitled "Stargate the Lowdown," followed at 9:00pm by the two-part season premiere, "Fallen" and "Homecoming."

RDA In anticipation of the debut of season seven of Stargate SG-1, Richard paid a visit to Wayne Brady in Los Angleles. His guest appearance is scheduled to air May 19, 2003. The Wayne Brady Show is syndicated across the US. Check local listings for time and channel.




SHREK 4-D PREMIERE AT UNIVERSAL STUDIOS
May 10, 2003

RDA and Wylie Richard and his daughter Wylie were among the guests at Universal Studios in Hollywood to celebrate the premiere of the new "Shrek 4-D" attraction. The multi-sensory state of the art attraction based on the movie Shrek, was unveiled at a gala premiere for celebrity guests. The event was a fundraiser for the Children's Action Network.




VANCOUVER SUN
April 25, 2003

RDA As a Minnesota native living part of the year in Vancouver, Richard had divided loyalties as the Minnesota Wild faced the Vancouver Canucks in the NHL playoffs. He spoke to the "Vancouver Sun" about his love of the sport, and his support of both teams as he modeled a composite hockey jersey that the Stargate wardrobe department had made especially for him. TV Zone The TV Zone 50th Special is an issue devoted entirely to Stargate SG-1. Featuring Stargate SG-1 on the cover and a special behind the scenes VCD, it includes interviews with the entire cast as well as a behind the scenes look at season six episodes.




SATURN AWARD NOMINATIONS
March 3, 2003

SG-1 On March 3, 2003, The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy, & Horror Films announced its nominees for the 29th annual Saturn Awards. Stargate SG-1 received a nomination for Best Syndicated/Cable Television Series, and Richard Dean Anderson was also recognized for excellence as Best Actor in a Television Series. The Saturn Awards will be presented at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel in Los Angeles on May 18, 2003. Click here to visit the official website of the Saturn Awards.




SEASON SEVEN OF STARGATE SG-1 BEGINS PRODUCTION
February 17, 2003

SG-1 On February 17, 2003, Richard Dean Anderson and the cast and crew of Stargate SG-1 returned to Vancouver, British Columbia to begin filming the seventh season of the series. The new season is expected to begin airing in June in the US.




CELEBRITY SPORTS INVITATIONAL AT SQUAW VALLEY
January 9-12, 2003

Squaw Valley In January, Richard returned to the Celebrity Sports Invitational, held again this year at the Resort at Squaw Creek, California. Richard participated in the Broomball Competition, and scored at least one goal, helping his Team Paul Mitchell to victory over Team Red Robin by a score of 7 to 4. An excellent skier, he also participated in the Alpine Race, earning a time of 20:07, and leading his Team Mouton Cadet to a first place victory. The Celebrity Invitational was hosted by Robert Kennedy, Jr. in support of his Waterkeeper Alliance. Over a half million dollars was raised to help protect and restore waterways around the world.
