SG-1 disbanded when O'Neill left, Carter went to R&D at Area 51, Daniel requested reassignment to Atlantis, and Teal'c left the program to help build the new Jaffa nation on Dakara.
Lieutenant Colonel Cameron Mitchell led the dogfight over Antarctica in the battle against Anubis, for which he was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. His goal is to reunite SG-1.
Technician has been promoted to Chief Master Sergeant Walter Harriman.
Vala's full name is Vala Mal Doran.
Myrddin (Merlin) was among the Ancients who left Atlantis and returned to Earth thousands of years ago.
According to legend, King Arthur was carried off in a barge by Merlin, headed for the Vale of Avalon, which was a magical place where the dead would meet, suggesting that Arthur never actually died but would in fact one day return. Avalon may be a place where Merlin helped Arthur, a mortal, ascend.
In 1191 the monks at Glastonbury Abbey claimed to have found the grave of King Arthur with the inscription: "Hic iacet sepultus inclitus Rex Artuius in insula Avallonis" ("Here lies the famous King Arthur, buried on the Isle of Avalon").
Vala describes the Goa'uld kor mak bracelets as having been the ceremonial marriage bracelets of the Egyptian sky goddess Nut.
Ancient language:
Tua puta ego - I believe you
Onno matta netario - This is unnecessary
MEMORABLE REMARKS:

Wow, politics really does suck everywhere you go. [Mitchell]
Did I mention I'm on a mission from God? [Mitchell]
Well, Walter, it doesn't look like we're getting the band back together. [Mitchell]
I know nothing about your fair planet, other than it seems to have a rather interesting, if somewhat limited, gene pool. [Vala]
Have you ever heard of the Goa'uld Nut? [Vala]
As in… cashew? Pea? [Daniel]
That is what I'm talking about! [Mitchell]
Well, I haven't been this disappointed since Daniel and I had sex. [Vala]
Maybe it's just me, but I'm digging this rapport developing between the two of us. [Mitchell]
I'm sure if there is a monster down here, it's going to be much more scared of you than you are of it, especially once it gets to know you. [Daniel]

NOTES OF INTEREST:
Once upon a time, there was a race of people that went on a great journey through space, across the universe. They were called the Altera. After much time, probably thousands of years, they found a great belt of stars. The Alterans named their new home Avalon, and they built many astria porta.
The Ancients were originally the Alterans, who came to Earth from another galaxy, left our galaxy for Pegasus, and returned later when they lost the war to the Wraith.

The City of the Gods on the Plains of Celestis is the home of the Priors who communicate with the Ori through the Flames of Enlightenment.
Book of Origin is the holy text of Origin, the religion forced upon the followers of the Ori.
Priors are human, more highly evolved, and have been given special powers by the Ori.
Gerak was the First Prime of Montu, a minor Goa'uld who served Ra, then later joined Ba'al when Ra was killed. Gerak once defeated and killed Karrok of the High Plains, the First Prime of Horus.

The kor mak bracelets create a physiological bond between the wearers. The lasting effects of the bracelets after their removal may be due to the effects of the Ancient communication device on the technology.
The Lucian Alliance is a coalition of former smugglers and mercenaries who've banded together to take advantage of the power vacuum left by the demise of the Goa'uld.
The International Committee is throwing its full support behind the Atlantis expedition. The Senate Appropriations Committee intends to cut the SGC budget to 30%. Landry's only option is to convince the International Committee to change their minds and contribute to SGC funding in exchange for a civilian position appointed by the Committee with full access and a say in all major decisions.
Grannus was a minor Celtic god, one of Camulus's former lieutenants, until he was executed by his own Jaffa.
Inago wears the tattoo of Tilgath.
Vala stole the kor mak bracelets from Arlos. She also stole Arlos's mother's necklace and traded it to Inago for a power coil, then traded the power coil to Caius for a customized cargo ship, now in the hands of Tenat and Jup.

NOTES OF INTEREST:
Carter returns on temporary assignment for the mission to Kallana.
Carter was part of the team at Area 51 that developed the Mark IX, a multi-gigaton naquadria-enhanced nuclear warhead.
The effect of the kor mak bracelets joining Daniel and Vala physiologically is gradually wearing off.
Mitchell's call sign is "Shaft," referring to "Cam Shaft."
Nerus was a minor Goa'uld who served Ba'al for many centuries, known for his invention of Goa'uld technologies and for his many appetites.
The supergate has a diameter of approximately 300 to 400 meters. It is powered by a black hole in the Ori galaxy, linked to the planet Kallana that has been collapsed into a micro-singularity in order to maintain an open wormhole between galaxies indefinitely as a permanent beachhead for the invasion of our galaxy.
Vala was probably drawn into the Ori galaxy.

A little less talk, a little more shut-the-hell-up. [Daniel]
My God, it's enormous! Not everything I say is innuendo. [Vala]
We should be able to punch through with our transport beam. [Carter]

Anubis replicated his pre-ascension DNA using the genetic manipulation device, and then combined it with human DNA to create a genetic hybrid capable of evolving to the point of ascension.
A normal human brain would show roughly 5-10% coverage of areas indicating maximized synaptic activity. Research theorizes that 80 or 90% activity is required for conscious, willful ascension.
Woolsey has taken on the role of the watchdog liaison for the International Committee.
MEMORABLE REMARKS:
Maybe it wasn't our fault. [Carter]
I thought it was always our fault. [Daniel]
A long time ago, the Ori and the Alterans were one society, human, on an evolutionary path to ascension, but a philosophical division grew. The Ori grew more and more fervent in their religious belief. The Alterans believed in science. The Ori tried to wipe them out, but instead of going to war, the Alterans built a ship, left their galaxy, and came to Earth. Both the Alterans and the Ori eventually ascended, and the Ori passed down a religion called Origin to the next evolution of humans they created.
There is a real, physical transfer of energy to the Ori that occurs simply through a human being's belief in them. For it to have a measurable effect, it requires massive numbers of humans relinquishing their will.
The knowledge of the Ancients is too massive for a normal human brain to handle. A younger brain gave Orlin a slightly better chance of retaining the knowledge a little longer since the neural make-up of a still-developing mind has the potential for better memory retention than that of an adult. Ultimately he will lose most of the knowledge and will not be able to ascend again.
P2X-885 has fallen to the Ori, the third planet this month.
Gerak has become a Prior and vows to spread the word of the Ori to all Jaffa.
Hammond is wearing a civilian suit rather than a uniform.
At last count, over 8000 people have been infected by the Prior plague in 13 states. The President has ordered all US borders closed. The country is entirely under quarantine.

Don't get me wrong. I like crazy. That's why I asked for this job. [Mitchell]
"Life and death, light and darkness, hope and despair. The rift was created, and on that day, the Ori were born. But the hatred of those who strayed from the true path festered and bloomed in the dark corners of the Avernikas to which they had been cast! And consumed by this hatred, they poisoned all they touched, bringing death, darkness, and despair! And the souls of their victims knew no peace until the Ori came and whispered to them, 'Sleep, for the end draws near.' And on that day all will rejoice, when the Ori come and lay them low!" - The Ori are coming to destroy the Ancients.
At the Battle of Tazek'Sur on Chulak, Gerak's father had been killed in the rebellion against the Goa'uld.
The International Committee is referred to as the IOA (International Oversite Advisory).
The Prior plague spread to US, Mexico, Canada, Paris, Bonn, Amsterdam, Rome, Madrid, London, Athens, and Africa. The final death toll of the pandemic was estimated at a little over 3,000 worldwide.

NOTES OF INTEREST:
Galar was originally occupied by the Goa'uld but has been under the protection of the Asgard for many generations.
Mitchell's father was a test pilot who had lost both legs at the knee in an accident when Mitchell was about 10, a few months before the launch of the first space shuttle.
As a captain, Mitchell had been a fighter pilot with the call name Mustang Three. His target was a three-vehicle convoy, he was cleared to fire, then lost confirmation after it was too late to abort, and the target, a group of refugees, was destroyed. He almost resigned his commission, but his commanding officer, Colonel M. Davidson, tried to reassure him that it wasn't his fault.

The multiverse theory of quantum physics posits the existence of parallel universes, an infinite number of ever-growing, alternate realities that exist concurrently with our own. The theory holds that anything that can happen will happen, if not in this reality, then in another. We're part of a meta-verse in which individual sub-universes are continually being generated.
The alternate team had opened a wormhole through a black hole, then used an energy weapon to blast a bridge into this universe. Carter proposes that the first spatial tear may have caused a ripple effect across several realities transforming an area of their subspace into a kind of funnel that's redirecting their gate travel to this universe so that our SGC became a convergence point.
To reverse the process, SG-1 established a wormhole to PX7-455, fired a directed energy weapon on loan from the Asgard through the gate to reverse the space-time rupture effectively inverting the convergence effect, and allowing dialing to create wormholes that would follow the inter-universal pathways already created by the initial trips here.
At least 18 SG-1 teams arrived. Over 50 SG teams were turned back.
The 12th alternate SG-1 team to arrive included Martouf and Janet Fraiser as members. Martouf joined the SGC to be closer to Carter, they lived together for quite some time, but Carter is with someone else now. Fraiser joined SG-1 because Carter is on her honeymoon. Their Earth is being ravaged by the Prior plague, for which Fraiser brings back the cure.
The journey between gates takes on average 0.3 seconds travel time. Travel time for the alternate SG-1 team was 3.4 seconds.
Kvasir arrives to assist SG-1. Thor and Heimdall are in a neighboring galaxy dealing with a most sensitive matter.
Currently the Atlantis ZPM is powering one-way transportation back to Earth and cloaking the city of Atlantis.

NOTES OF INTEREST:
It has been three years since the signing of the Gate Alliance Treaty.
The IOA is the International Oversight Advisory. Members of the IOA visiting the Gamma Site are Chapman (British), LaPierre (French), Shen (Chinese), and Woolsey (liaison).
The Gamma Site is 24,000 light years from Earth. The unique radioactive ionosphere makes it difficult to lock onto surface targets from orbit. Over 30 scientists were engaged in ongoing projects, including Dr. Myers, (lead entomologist studying R75), Dr. Sharma, (lead botanist), Dr. Toshiaki (magnetic resonance field study), and Dr. Santiago (mealworms).
R75 is an asexual fast-reproducing insect responsible for the devastation of numerous off-world crops. They are not nocturnal, but appear lethargic in the light and prefer the darkness, burrowing underground to consume crops from the roots up, and using echolocation as a defense mechanism. They are the next phase of Prior devastation.
Protocol CR91 requires a payload of lethal neurotoxin to be delivered from planetary orbit.

ARTHUR'S MANTLE
Planet: P9G-844 (Sodan) Planet Description: Sodan village now destroyed Inhabitants: Only Haikon survived Emulated Culture: Jaffa Episode Guide |
Pictures
NOTES OF INTEREST:
Merlin was an ascended Ancient who gave up his ascension to retake human form and develop a secret weapon to defeat the Ori, a weapon capable of destroying ascended beings. To conceal his work from the Others, he developed the "Arthur's Mantle" cloaking device to shift his research into another dimension. The device was recovered from the cave under Glastonbury. The weapon was completed on Earth and then relocated to a planet with the gate address: 20-2-35-8-26-15.
According to texts recovered from the cave in Glastonbury, "Anawyn" may be a variation on "Annwn," the Celtic Underworld where King Arthur journeyed in search of 13 sacred objects, one of which was a cloak said to render the wearer invisible. Called "The Mantle of Arthur," it was kept at Bardsey Island by Myrddin (Merlin).
Arthur's Mantle and the Sodan cloak seem to be based on similar technology.
According to M-theory that unites the five superstring theories, there are 11 spatial dimensions that exist in parallel with our physical reality.

Arthur defeated Mordred at the Battle of Camlann, after which he and his fellow knights set off to find the Sangraal, or Holy Grail. It is said they journeyed to three distant lands mentioned in Merlin's prophecy: Castiana, Sahal, and Vagon Brei.
The Sangraal, also known as the bloodstone for the color of the jewel, refers to the Holy Grail. The notion that the Grail was a cup or chalice, particularly the one used by Christ at the Last Supper, was a late addition to the myth. Earlier accounts describe it variously as a dish, or platter, or in the case of Von Eschenbach and other Middle Eastern influenced chroniclers, as a stone that fell from the heavens. It is the red pendant worn by Merlin, and the key to his secret weapon to defeat the Ori.
The second Ori supergate was formed near P3Y-229. The planet itself was destroyed in the formation of the micro-singularity.
