NOTES OF INTEREST:

The blast wave of the supernova sent both ships to an uncharted region of the universe, in a solar system centered around a blue giant. The shields of SG-1's ship were damaged and the hyperdrive control crystals were destroyed, with no backups available on board.
A single one-man pod was launched from Apophis' mothership several minutes prior to the supernova, and was tracked into Goa'uld occupied territory.
The Tok'ra are officially considering Selmak a fallen war hero.
Once replicators reach a critical number, they look for new sources of technology to consume. They are capable of doing almost anything to achieve their goals, and were able to modify the ship's engines to travel as much as 800 times its previous maximum hyperdrive speed.
By destroying the control crystals for the sublight engines, SG-1 prevented deceleration after exiting hyperdrive, resulting in an uncontrolled re-entry, crashing the ship into Delmak, Sokar's former home world and Apophis' new base. Apophis and the replicators are presumed destroyed.
SG-1's actions will throw the Goa'uld into chaos. The resultant void in dominant power will have the remaining System Lords fighting each other for years to come.

NOTES OF INTEREST:

The power of the sarcophagus forced Teal'c to once again believe that he was loyal to Apophis. The Rite of M'al Sharran, similar to a Last Rite, would save his soul by taking him to the very threshold of death, and as his memories wash over him, he is forced to remember, and choose his true path. Bra'tac has tried it twice before, but both times failed and resulted in death.
Va'lar and Teal'c were friends, both were Jaffa in training under Bra'tac when he was First Prime, and served together in Apophis' personal guard. Va'lar was ordered killed for failure in battle against Ra, but was freed by Teal'c and banished, then later killed when Teal'c burned his village under orders from Apophis. Teal'c became Bra'tac's apprentice and trained as his successor, learning his beliefs of false gods until turning against Apophis and joining the Tauri.
Ro'nak was Teal'c's father and First Prime of Cronus. He was murdered for failing to win an unwinable battle, and his family was exiled to Chulak.
Bra'tac is 137 years old. His symbiote will mature in two years, and will be his last. A new symbiote would reject a host of that age. It is how old warriors die.

Colonel Frank Simmons is from the Pentagon.
Colonel Reynolds was transferred from Area 51, and led SG-16 during the long-term analysis of P4X-636 and the testing of the alien weapon. The power core had been removed, but a naquadah reactor was used to replace it.
The civilization of Velona may be 3000 years old, but the weapon device dates back about 400 years. The inhabitants of Velona had a similar technological development to Earth until faced with an attack from the Goa'uld. Orlin communicated to them the knowledge for building a weapon with which they defeated the Goa'uld, but when they began to use the weapon for conquest, the Others destroyed the civilization to prevent a disaster.
Orlin is one of the "Others", the same race as Oma Desala. The most sacred rule of the Others is not to accelerate the natural ascension process of those beneath. For breaking this rule, both Orlin and Oma Desala had been banished. The Others began as humans, but learned to ascend to a different plane of existence in which they can become invisible in their noncorporeal state. They can retake human form, but cannot ascend again without the help of the Others. Orlin was banished alone on Velona for hundreds of years, but for preventing SG-16 from testing the weapon, he was given another chance by the Others, and allowed to ascend again.
It is possible to build a small simple stargate that will dial only once, using materials available online, including 100 pounds of pure raw titanium, 200 feet of fiber-optic cable, seven 100,000-watt industrial-strength capacitors - and a toaster.
O'Neill has never seen Star Wars.
Carter's birthday is in May, with a birthstone of emerald.

The Reol are a race that does not embrace technology or conflict. Their natural defense mechanism is a chemical produced in their bodies which resembles cortical acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that helps regulate and process human memory. It is spread through close proximity, and dissipates fairly quickly. It affects the temporal lobe associated with face recognition, allowing the mind to fill in the details to produce a sense of recognition and familiarity.
Kaiael had been captured by the Goa'uld for study, had managed to escape, and their transport crashed on P7S-441. He used the chemical on SG-1, and the "Made in Tyler, Texas" label on an MRE to induce their memory of him as Lieutenant Tyler, from Texas, who had been assigned to SG-1 last month for training, and had completed three missions with them.
The Goa'uld have hunted the Reol for study, nearly to extinction. A group of them have started a new colony on a planet in an isolated part of the galaxy.
Colonel Simmons has ties to the Pentagon, but his chain of command is unclear, and his superiors unknown. He had accessed secure files from the SGC, logging in as "User 4574".
Jack O'Neill was born in Chicago, and raised in Minnesota.

RED SKY

The margin for error in calculating planetary shift used to cause the rough ride during gate travel, until it was fixed.
The SGC dialing computer overrode some dialing protocols to get a lock on K'tau. An unstable superheavy element, probably plutonium, may have piggybacked onto the wormhole from another system and was introduced to the K'tau sun's nuclear reaction as the wormhole passed directly through it, causing a shift in the light spectrum toward infrared that would eventually cause all plants to die.
Carter's solution was to introduce a more stable superheavy element with an atomic weight above 200 into the sun's core, either by rocket or by prematurely disengaging the wormhole, so that the two elements would bind, rendering them inert, and restoring the sun.
HU2340 is the superheavy element artificially created by Dr. MacLaren that was used to restore the K'tau sun. Hammond will recommend that its proposed name be "maclarium".
K'tau is part of the Protected Planets Treaty between the Asgard and the Goa'uld. The people of a planet categorized as protected will be free from Goa'uld domination. However, according to Subsection 42, the people on those planets cannot be artificially advanced through a technological means, thus interference from the Asgard would nullify the whole treaty and leave all protected planets, including Earth, open for Goa'uld attack.
The K'tau civilization has its roots in the Norse culture, using runic symbols for writing, and praying to the Norse god Freyr, Lord of the Aesir and god of K'tau.
Freyr is the Norse god of sun and rain, protector and ally of Thor, and ruler of the elves who could bring good or bad tidings.
Annulus is the K'tau term for the stargate.
Ragnarok is the Norse End of Time.
The Hall of Wisdom is an underground chamber that is a place of worship and communication with the gods.
Two members of SG-6 were killed in the destruction of the rocket.

Hok'tar comes from "Hok" meaning "advanced" and "Tar" a slang term for Tauri or "human". Nirrti's experiments were designed to advance the "Evolution of Hok'tar" to create a new advanced human host for herself. She infected the children of Hanka with a retrovirus that caused symptoms of telekinesis, then cured them so that the altered DNA would be passed on to the next generation, each generation becoming closer to an advanced human host.
The retrovirus can exist in the body for years before symptoms appear. During puberty the virus appears and begins to rewrite the individual's DNA in order to replicate. It causes a high fever, seizures, increased brain activity, and cells generate an electromagnetic field resulting in telekinesis.
SG-7 had lived on P8X-987 for three months before the population was destroyed, and witnessed instances of the virus which the Hankans called "mind fire" and considered as a sign of being touched by the gods. Affected teenagers went alone into the forest and returned cured.
Nirrti had poisoned P8X-987 to hide evidence of her experiments. The toxin was non-persistent and the air was clean four years later.
Nirrti was sent to unknown coordinates and will connect to another destination to begin her experiments again.
Every other Saturday when Carter is on Earth, she plays chess with Cassandra.

Daniel returned regularly with SG-11 to P3X-888 to reset a surveillance camera and leave an energy bar for Chaka. He used the footage to study the Unas social structure, culture, and identified up to 70 words of their language.
Generations ago, the Unas served the Goa'uld and enslaved the population of the planet through terror and oppression. When the Goa'uld left, the humans learned to use weapons and led an uprising against the Unas. The Beast Wars lasted many years, the slaves became the masters, and the masters became the slaves.
The symbols for P3X-888 are the only symbols known to Burrock. They are highly valued and were passed down through the lineage of certain families since the Beast Wars.
The torture device is referred to as a "firestick".

THE TOMB

NOTES OF INTEREST:

P2X-338 is an arid, deserted planet. The average temperature is 135 degrees in the shade. The ziggurat is over 4000 years old. The inscriptions were written in Babylonian cuneiform.
Daniel reads and speaks ancient Babylonian cuneiform, and Russian.
"Babylon" means "Gate of the Gods."
Major Valentine Kirensky was serving under Colonel Sakolov in Siberia and taking secret orders from certain hard-line elements in Russian Army Intelligence. He disappeared six days before the SGC was called in to deactivate the Russian gate, nearly ten months ago. He was presumed to be offworld with two other officers and Alexander Britski, an archaeologist and expert on ancient Mesopotamia.
Kirensky was killed by the creature in the tomb, the two other officers were killed in the collapse of a passageway, and Britski killed himself with a cyanide pill.
Two years ago Dr. Alexander Britski began an excavation near Rafha in southern Iraq. He found several stone tablets engraved with Babylonian cuneiform, and one with a set of gate symbols he didn't recognize - the coordinates for P2X-338. The results of the dig became classified when the Russians connected the symbols to the DHD discovered by the Germans in 1906 and taken by the Red Army at the end of World War II. The coordinates for P2X-338 were added to the addresses supplied by Colonel Maybourne when the Russian Stargate program began.
The Russian Stargate program was up for 37 days before being shut down. P2X-338 was not listed in its logs. The Russians have been pushing for more direct involvement in the American Stargate program as part of their agreement to share information.
The Babylonian tablet from Iraq included a reference to the Eye of Tiamat, a large jewel which supposedly endowed Marduk with great magical abilities.
The temple was dedicated to the Babylonian god Marduk. The entrance code is a retelling of the Babylonian creation myth. Marduk slays the winged serpent Tiamat. He cuts her in two and uses half of her to create the sky and the other half to create the Earth. The story is told out of order, providing the key to unlock the code.
Marduk was such an evil tyrant that his own priests rebelled against him, and sealed him in the sarcophagus with a creature that has no translated name. The sarcophagus would try to continually keep him alive, so the creature eating him alive would have taken awhile.
Marduk used to emerge from his temple and appear amongst his people riding a beam of white light - a ring transporter - to another temple a few miles away.
When the Goa'uld Marduk entered Major Vallarin, he retained the knowledge of the host, and was aware of Zukhov's secret orders to obtain alien technology.
Teal'c's body is incapable of sustaining a symbiote as long as he carries a larval Goa'uld. He has the ability to sense the presence of a Goa'uld in others.
The P-90 uses a 50-round horizontal clip, firing 900 armor-piercing rounds per minute.
The Russians expect future participation with the SGC.

BETWEEN TWO FIRES

Because of the Goa'uld threat, the Curia was forced to change its views on its isolationist ways. Omac favored the old ways. His death was probably murder in order to shift the Curia vote in favor of allowing the trade of technology.
The SGC has access to an offworld trinium mine. A trade agreement was reached for a supply of trinium in exchange for the Tollan ion cannon. Earth would need 38 ion cannons for an effective network to protect the planet from attack.
Every Tollan has a small implant that monitors his health. Implants are linked to a central system allowing the immediate dispatch of health officers in an emergency. The delayed response to Omac suggests that he was murdered. Crime is very rare on Tollana. Tollan law considers lying by the government to be an even more heinous crime than murder.
Trinium is required to house any device that generates the Tollan phase-shifting technology, allowing it to pass through solid matter.
Tanith left Apophis's ship in an escape pod before the destruction of his fleet by the supernova near Vorash. He now serves a powerful Goa'uld whose name he won't reveal. His Goa'uld mothership has defensive shields making it impervious to the ion cannons.
The Curia was forced to agree to build weapons of mass destruction using phase-shift technology for use by the Goa'uld in return for preventing the destruction of Tollana. The weapons will penetrate solid matter prior to detonation. The intention was to force the Tollans to send a weapon to Earth through the iris since the Goa'uld cannot attack Earth directly due to its status as a Protected Planet.
The final transmission from Tollana reported that all defenses were failing, some people had escaped, the stargate was destroyed, and ships attempting to leave the planet were being shot down.

Aschen technology includes medical advances that extend the lifespan and eliminate disease, transporters, floating harvesters, the ability to create a secondary star by igniting a gas giant, and bio-weapons containing living radioactive genetic material designed to attack and destroy only the specific DNA of the enemy. They seek new planets to colonize, but their ships travel only within the Aschen Confederation, and their stargate had been found buried, with no DHD and no gate addresses. They were willing to share their technology and membership in the Aschen Confederation in exchange for stargate technology.
The DHD is designed to automatically compensate for stellar drift. Carter theorized that the outside limit for a lock between two stargates without a DHD is 300 light years. The search for the Aschen homeworld within that radius of the Volian system revealed four planets, including P4C-970.
Two hundred years ago, the Volians were a thriving urban civilization approximating 1900 North America in technological development. Newspaper archives show pictures and a language similar to ancient Celtic texts from Wales. A flu pandemic killed millions, and when the Aschen arrived in ships and offered a vaccine that saved their world, they were seen as heroes. The Volians joined the Aschen Confederation in a friendship that lasted years. When it was discovered that the Aschen vaccine causes sterility, there were riots, the urban society abruptly ended, and all evidence of the society and the capital city was buried. In 200 years P3A-194 went from an urban civilization of millions to a simple agrarian civilization of thousands.
The president is under a lot of pressure to present a concrete benefit of the stargate program before the next election. The president decided that the Earth-Aschen treaty is a state matter, pulled the SGC out, and put Kinsey in charge of the next stage of negotiations.

After the initiation of the Russian stargate program, on the second Russian mission, a Jaffa was captured alive and taken by a renegade faction of Russian military intelligence. Maybourne arranged for the capture of the symbiote from the Russians. There was a recent deposit of $3 million to Maybourne's offshore bank account from a numbered company in the Cayman Islands. The holding company is a subsidiary of a multinational corporation called Zetatron industries, run by Adrian Conrad. Dr. Neil Brooke, immunology, took delivery of the symbiote.
Adrian Conrad is in the late stages of Burchardt's Syndrome, a condition that affects the immune system, leaving the body vulnerable to a host of diseases. There is no known cure except the healing powers of a symbiote. Carter was captured and taken to St. Christina's, a deserted hospital in the suburbs of Seattle, in order to run tests to determine a safe means for removing a symbiote.
Carter left her home at 8:30 Saturday morning, and was missing for 48 hours. Her car was found in a lot outside a fitness club 12 blocks from her home.

The ship was on a timer as a backup plan. It was now on course for Earth and would arrive in three days. The mobile computing device that Martin took from Tanner was required to access the ship.
The Air Force allowed production of "Wormhole X-treme" because of plausible deniability.
The Air Force had gotten Martin a job in real estate, but he wasn't happy, he wanted to forget, and he began taking vitamins laced with the same chemical that had suppressed his memory before, in order to forget. In another month the long-term memory loss would have been permanent.

An event horizon dematerializes an object, turning it into matter and transmitting it through a subspace wormhole. The receiving gate translates the energy signature and reconverts it back into its original form of matter. The stargate has massive amounts of memory like a computer buffer that temporarily stores energy signatures before reconverting them in order to make sure the information is complete before reintegration.
One of the gate�s safety protocols erases the energy imprints from the control crystals each time the unstable vortex of a forming wormhole is established, like an overall system reset.
The stargate is capable of emitting up to 400 feedback signals and safety protocols during a dialing sequence. Using the dialing computer rather than the DHD can ignore as many as 220 of them.
Destruction of the sending gate severed the wormhole prematurely, however, a local DHD would have compensated for the sudden loss of power and allowed the receiving gate to finish the reintegration process.
Removing the master control crystal from a DHD before connecting it will create an event horizon without connecting to a wormhole or forming a vortex.
A stargate connected to a DHD is dominant over a stargate using the dialing computer.

The deaths of Cronus and Apophis created a power vacuum among the System Lords, who fought among themselves for several months. Zipacna is acting as an emissary for Anubis.
The seven major System Lords arranged a summit to discuss a new order. Those expected included Baal, Bastet, Kali the Destroyer, Morrigan, Olokun, Svarog, and Yu Huang Shang-ti. Osiris arrived representing Anubis.
Baal wiped out the inhabitants of two star systems, 60 million lives, rather than lose them to Sokar in a territorial dispute. Bastet and Kali the Destroyer made a treaty with Sobek, then moved against him during the celebratory feast when he let his guard down. Rumor has it his head still decorates Bastet�s palace in Bubastis.
For unknown reasons, and for the first time in thousands of years, the Goa�uld are showing zero population growth. A dying symbiote releases its own deadly toxin which kills the host.
Lo�taur is the highest rank among the human slaves of the System Lords, like a personal attendant, considered to be a position of great honor.
SG-17 under the command of Major Mansfield, with Lieutenant Elliot, joined the joint mission with SG-1 for orientation from the Tok�ra on Revanna. Elliot was severely injured in the attack and the other members were killed.

The asteroid was first spotted by an amateur astronomer. It had an irregular shape, was about 137 kilometers in length, and was located in Cassiopeia, declination 61 degrees, 6 minutes, right ascension 2 hours, 48 minutes. It was traveling in a highly atypical path, well outside the plane of the solar system, and on course to strike somewhere in the Arctic Circle. It would wipe out all life on Earth in 11 days, 16 hours.
The fail-safe position is 39 minutes before impact, after which it would be too close to the Earth for the explosion to deflect it.
The asteroid�s core is composed almost entirely of naquadah, making up about 45% of the total mass. Naquadah does not occur naturally in the solar system. Therefore, it was probably a Goa�uld set-up to circumvent the Protected Planets Treaty by destroying Earth and making it look like a natural disaster.
The only way to stop it would be with a nuclear weapon, which would be enhanced by the naquadah, probably to the force of a small nova, and at the given distance from Earth would be enough to set the atmosphere on fire and boil the oceans.
SG-1 expanded the cargo ship's hyperspace field far beyond its usual envelope to encompass the entire asteroid, taking it out of normal space long enough to avoid the collision with Earth, thus riding it through Earth. To the outside observer, it would disappear on one side of Earth and reappear on the other.
The most powerful warhead ever developed carried 1200 naquadah-enhanced megatons, equivalent to one billion tons of TNT. Its deactivation code was: 03310310.

NOTES OF INTEREST:

Reese was created through nano-technology by her �father.� She created the Replicators as toys, using the same nano-bots that she uses for self-repair to reorder matter on a microscopic level, and was able at first to control them with her mind.
The people of the planet feared Reese and her toys, she taught them to make more of themselves and to defend themselves and her from destruction. When they went beyond her control, killed everyone and then left the planet, she was the only remnant of her civilization, and went to sleep.

THE SENTINEL

NOTES OF INTEREST:

Colonel Grieves and Lieutenant Kershaw had both served on NID offworld teams under Colonel Maybourne, had been arrested, convicted of high treason, and put on death row. They were offered a commuted sentence to help repair the damage done to the Sentinel.
On an earlier mission, Grieves had stolen a powerful beam weapon from the people of P3Y-294, he was pursued and turned the device on his pursuers, killing all three. The government of P3Y-294 would have nothing further to do with the SGC even after the device was returned.
While trying to take apart and decipher the Sentinel on Latona, Grieves had shot the Caretaker and allowed him to die, rendering the planet defenseless.
The Latonans are a peaceful egalitarian society that has relied on protection from the Sentinel for 300 years. The civilization has technologically regressed in that time. Their written language is similar and possibly related to P2A-463.
The Sentinel is protected by a force field that must first be deactivated. The code to shut off the force field is always changing, using a mathematical progression of the harmonics between the tones being emitted in each of over a hundred randomly changing patterns, relative to its spectral equivalent.
The Caretaker wears a wristband that is a dead man�s switch, keeping the flame in Marul�s chamber burning as long as he lives. The symbols on the Sentinel mean �Life Force or Life Energy� and �Two as One�, indicating that the joining of man and machine is necessary to activate the Sentinel.
The SG-9 diplomatic team, commanded by Major Benton and including Tarkman, Winters and Grogan, was on an extended mission to reestablish diplomatic relations with Latona. They were attacked by the forces of Svarog, and only Grogan survived.
Svarog, one of the seven System Lords at the Summit, attacked Latona, and he and his forces were destroyed by the Sentinel.
The new guidance system on the UAV can be used to paint targets on a planet to be taken out by missiles launched through the gate.

During the accident involving unstable radioactive naquadria, Daniel�s right hand was exposed to the equivalent of over 8 to 9 Grays of neutron radiation resulting from direct contact, with full body exposure of over 7 Grays, a lethal dose that would result in death in 10 to 15 hours.
Kelowna is one of three major countries on P2S-4C3, with a technological level of development comparable to the 1940�s US. Mounting tensions among the three nations has led to a situation similar to the Cold War.
The Kelownans discovered their stargate about 15 years ago, when they discovered an ancient Goa�uld temple with writings, artifacts, and samples of naquadria, which they are developing as a weapon.
Kelownan scientists theorized that their civilization had been destroyed by an asteroid impact 10,000 years ago, however the temple writings indicate that Goa�uld experiments with a naquadria weapon were responsible for the destruction.
Naquadria is a mineral substance found on Kelowna, a highly unstable radioactive variation of naquadah with the potential for enormous energy production far greater than weapons grade naquadah. It may be the power source needed to generate the energy necessary to create a hyperspace window or energy defense shields.
Jonas Quinn, Special Advisor to the High Minister of Kelowna, has several degrees from the most honored education institutions including social studies and ancient Kelownan history, and is responsible for overseeing scientific research from an ethical perpective. Since taking the sample of naquadria to offer to the SGC, he would be considered a traitor if he returned to Kelowna.

The Asgard are a dying race. They reproduce exclusively through a process of enhanced cellular mitosis (cloning), and for nearly a thousand years have been physically incapable of achieving cell division through meiosis (sexual reproduction). As each Asgard�s body fails, his consciousness is transferred into a newer, younger version of himself. Lack of genetic diversity has led to eventual deterioration during cloning, and a process of irreversible genetic manipulation through controlled mutation has helped to temporarily avoid complete genetic breakdown.
About 30,000 years ago, a ship was launched from the Asgard homeworld with a crew placed in suspended animation. A failure in the navigational system caused the ship to drift between galaxies until it was discovered near the Adara system six months ago. Heimdall�s research analyzes the physiology of a preserved crew member to find a way to prevent genetic degradation during reproduction through clone technology.
Heimdall�s lab is deep underground on the second planet in the Adara system, under the protection of the Protected Planets Treaty.
