Well Gail, therein lies the rub...
I have gotten the emails from Kate R about her updates, and I have gone... only to find myself on the 'home page'? And from there, I have gone to here and there, and while beautifully done... in fact, VERY well done... I get side-tracked from what I was looking for, and usually can't find it.
To tell the truth, I don't know what is old, or what is new. I wish she had itemized what is what. I did find an obviously old part, and was thrilled.
I have mentioned privately, and so now publicly... I wish I had the TIME to peruse it all. I once found all of the 'emblems' for the Jaffa, it is so interesting... but there simply not enough time in the day for me. I have many ongoing 'projects', some which couldn't be left... like 'spring cleaning my kitchen for the last 2 days... which wore me out. Or was it 3 days. And I didn't even do it all...
The thing about me is that when I do my projects, I take my time, make my mistakes, and try to do it RIGHT... the first time. JUST like Holmes on Homes. (((I mean, just look at the way I write, my Mother used to get so frustrated with me, it takes me FOREVER to do anything. But, when I have the finished product...??? ))
But I do hope that someday, I will be able to just SIT here all day for days and days and go through everything. I also want to read the rest of Anne's work (with her friends), too.
* And Anne... I just don't know. I brought up the fact that they must have done it on purpose because of the way the end is changed, but I don't know, now. I was thinking about it last night...
What if they had done it one way, and then decided that "no... this doesn't work because Jack bragged to Thor about the fish in his pond." Then they could have changed it, forgetting that they JUST did it.
Or... and I had a thought...
It seems to me that the first one, might be the blooper? JUST because Jack was bragging about the big fish in his pond to Thor...? So they said, we can't leave this pond empty... but it's too late, the episode already aired... so we can make up for it..."
No... see, I am not buying it. Either the episode "Threads" is a blooper because Jack told Thor about the fish... (of course, he could have been 'playing' as you say)... or the Moebius is a blooper because they changed the ending.
What do you think? For me, it's a conundrum... And yes, they do mess around on the set, and for me this is fun... but I wonder (and wondered at the beginning with KateR when I wanted to start this post, and asked her opinion) if I might be offending anyone WITH this post. However, KateR told me at that time, that it would get people thinking again about the episodes... which I imagine is why she started this site... besides the 1st reason being RDA, himself. I forget her exact wording, but I do still have the original email from her.
But ALSO then... there will always be someone who will be offended no matter what. We all have our opinions... and I can understand where people who are fiercely loyal to the SG-series, being defensive about the episodes. AS AM I...!!! This is THE most entertaining and non-offensive program I know... complete with action, and space scenes.
I will tell you... SG-1 is my VERY FAVORITE series of them all, for all time. SG-Atlantis is my 2nd best... My 'before' favorite is now 3rd... Star Trek Voyager, and then Star Trek TNG. Years ago... Star Trek was the 1st.
This is not meant to hurt or demean in ANY way. But is simply supposed to get people to 'observe closely', and have fun with it. We all make mistakes, the trick is to laugh at ourselves... in a nice way, of course.
But back to this issue...for me... the very fact that they have 2 exactly same endings (at the beginning...) has to be a mistake. Life does not relive the exact same thing... the exact same 'moments', and those were the endings to two separate occasions, two separate episodes... And usually when they do such a thing, like a timeline being changed... then they usually state it very clearly IN the episode, one way or another... like in that episode "Window of Opportunity" where the loop kept going on and on... and Jack got to kiss Carter... again. _________________

O'NEILL
Yeah, hey listen drop by any time. In fact I'll take you fishing. I'd love to do that. There's this lake in northern Minnesota where the bass grow…
(opens arms wide)
that big, well…
Okay, so this is when O'Neill tells Thor about the fish, BUT - he's not saying they're in HIS pond. He keeps insisting there's no pesky fish in HIS pond all through the series. OR: It could be that the no-fish-in-my-pond was invented later in the series, i'm not entirely sure of that. But in any case he's talking about "a lake" not his pond here.
I am not hurt or offended, that's all good. I just think while nitpicking is fine we have to realize there are things done on purpose and the fishing ending is one of them imo.
And I found this on wiki in the alternate timeline section - maybe it helps to confuse us all a bit more
Next, we're back in our own time and see that SG-1 has the ZPM and the tape from the First Dynasty Tomb. Comparing their events in history to the ones cited on the tape, they decide that there is no need to go back in time to fix the timeline. Then, they all go fishing at Jack's cabin, just as they had in the final scene in the episode, 8.18 "Threads". We are led to believe that the tomb with the ZPM and tape were discovered between Daniel's return from his second ascension and the team fishing trip to Jack's cabin, where Jack said there were no fish in his pond to catch. The First Dynasty Tomb had been uncovered one month prior to the start of the events of "Moebius Part 1", so the assumption is that we have backed up a few weeks before Catherine Langford dies and the time traveling mission was undertaken. The timeline has been fixed, except, now Jack's pond has fish (which is a private joke to Jack and shouldn't be taken seriously).
Ah, I love Kate's lexicon and it's not hard to access. If you are at the hp, just scroll down to the "What is new" box and click on the latest update and it should take you to the lexicon and there you'll see the newest additions. Everything else is sorted alphabetically. Kate's lexicon and Sg wiki are some of my best sources when having to deal with story research - which I do a lot!
"Moebius" and "Window of Opportunity" are some of my favorite episodes except for the kisses, lolol. But I love time travel stuff (even though it drives me nuts when I have to analyze it) so I do love 1969 too.

1969 was one of my favorites, too... I lived it. LOL
Thanks for the tip about Kate's work. She had told me about it, when she was still working on it... but I always got the 'front page'... and quite frankly, I am not up-to-date on all of RDA's doings.
Like Legends. And while I used to watch MacGyver and enjoyed it... I was able to watch it only sporatically? I don't know why... whether I was working, or what. It is my greatest wish to get all of the MacGyver series on DVD... someday.
But thanks, Anne. I went to the 'front page', and found that why I couldn't find KateR's updates. My Bad... ... I never scrolled down, except for the 1st days before I joined this site... I always hit the "Update" button right there on the top right... so again, Thank You VERY much.
So... you posted right after me, and believe it or not, I was still making additions and corrections to my post... so you might have missed something.
I used to talk my Mother and Father's ears off... good thing they had 9 more kids. _________________

Recently I've watched 5th season again. In episode 6 - Rite Of Passage - is Nirti - Destroyer of Worlds. I could miss something or forget, but didn't she became a "good gal" after some episode from 4th season? When she made all planet younger and she was young without memory too. _________________ I'm the ivy that clings round your door. |

Oh, no, that wasn't Nirti. The destroyer of worlds was the woman from the episode "Prisoners" Linea. She later returned in "Past and Present" as Ke'ra.
Nirti is Goa'ould. _________________

Hi Caroline.
It is not Nirrti who is the "Destroyer of Worlds".
The woman is called Linea it is the one who helps SG1 out of the underworld prison.
and later is she is the reason for this "amnesia" on the planet there you are right. _________________ "Out of my mind. Back in 5 minutes!!" |

Thanks caroline_l, Anne, and Hummel...
Very good observation. I often thought of Linea/Ke'ra and wondered if she STAYED good, or if she was so focused on her 'experiments', that she turned 'bad' again...
Okay... I had never really noticed before, but I was just watching SG-1's #158 "Zero Hour".
I loved this storyline about the proliferous plant from another planet... especially the part where they are using a fire torch (?) to try to obliterate the plant. So funny...!
It not only grows fast, but also into different KINDS of plants. I may be wrong, but right at first glance... there are Ficus, Scheffleras, and Ivies...? ALL from one plant. I sure wish I had one of those...!

Please caroline_l, you are not foolish. In fact, I THANK you for asking.
It is always wise to ask questions. That is how we learn, and really... I am glad that you brought this subject up.
And... Anne and Hummel are friends who are always glad to help out.
Questions like yours 'tie-up' separate episodes, storylines... and in this series, there are ALOT of them.
I was hoping that we could be here not only to catch the bloopers, which are fun to do... but also to learn about our favorite characters and the roles they play. For me, they are role-models, and the way I wish the world IS...
At any rate... You know how they have the 'previously' on some of the episodes...? Sometimes they don't do it in cases like this, (and they didn't with #55 "Past and Present")... and so now we ALL know. _________________

Okie doke... This blooper is pretty straightforward.
In "Prodigy" at 26:19, Cadet Jennifer Hailey is on the left, Carter on the right, while going through the Stargate.
At 26:30... They had switched sides. Wonderful feat, to pull that off mid-route, through a wormhole...! _________________

I don't know if this would be called a "blooper", per se... and believe me, I am not 'fishing'. There ARE more 'real' bloopers...
Anyway. I debated over and over on whether this was a blooper or not, but I gotta say... every single time I see this episode, which was VERY exciting... I frustratingly ask myself the same question... WHY?
The plot is good...!
In #136..."Orpheus"
Everyone in the meeting knew that after Bra'tac (along with Teal'c's son, Ry'ac) was in captivity for 3 months... and was running out, or was completely out... of Tretonin.
@15:41 Carter said that "...whatever supply of Tretonin Bra'tac had would almost surely be depleted by now."
Really...? Then WHY did not Teal'c bring extra Tretonin... instead of 'sharing' his with Bra'tac...???
For that matter... WHY did not Teal'c 'soup himself up' before going on the mission, in the first place... so that he could use ALL of his on Bra'tac.
The whole episode was, as I said... good, even excellent... and it seems to me that the storyline would not have been hurt by just giving Bra'tac all that he needed. He would still have been too weak after being without the Tretonin for so long, and being the age he was... or maybe I missed something...???
Heck... with their 'lifestyle', shouldn't they always carry extras... just in case?
Sure would like some answers here... Otherwise, it shows a severe lack of forethought on the behalf of the team, and Teal'c in particular. _________________

In #201..."Counterstrike" at 18:40, you can hear the sound of Jaffa marching in the hall... stomp, stomp, stomp...
All of course... supposedly by the sound... in unison.
Listen and look carefully... and as all 4 of the Jaffa round the corner at 18:47, in actuality their footsteps don't match up with the marching 'sounds'.
These Jaffa were not marching, but 'walking' much slower than the sounds, and are even 'out-of-step' with each other.
Mind... at 1st glance the first two Jaffa are reasonably close 'in-step'... but I've seen proper marching men and these men are just not doing it quite right.
Besides, if you slow the frame down, you will see that NONE of them are synchronized with each other.
And I thought that 'canned laughter' in the sitcoms were funny, now there are canned marching men. _________________

I was watching Children Of The Gods, the Recut version tonight, and noticed that in the scene where O'Neill meets Skaara on Abydos Skaara is missing a tooth (upper right - back) as he is smiling at Jack. We see this as he is shown from profile. As the scene cuts we see him again, and he has all his teeth.
I thought maybe the filmmakers didn't like that he had such white, healthy teeth, considering that Skaara spent most of his life as a poor slave, so maybe they digitally removed a tooth, and when they did the recut it went unnoticed, or not worth the time and money to fix it. I dunno. I don't remember if he missed a tooth in the original pilot. |
