Welcome Sylvia
I was wondering where all the Italian fans were at. There seems to be a shortage here. _________________ There is no more fatal blunderer than he who consumes the greater part of his life getting his living--Thoreau

| Hello Everyone! Belathane has convinced me to come out of the shadows and make myself known. I discovered the wonderfulness that is RDA relatively late in life, and have enjoyed the conversations and banter of of this site for a few years now!! I especially enjoy the thunk thread, as at least one of you can attest!! LOL |

|
|
I supposse I should probably introduce myself since I am relatively new here. I grew up in Michigan watching MacGyver. I don't need to tell many of you that to a pre-teen/teenage girl, Rick was one of the most handsome and sexy men on tv (had his poster hanging in my room). He was cute and smart. I loved the fact that he used intelligence to fight his battles and almost always had a good message to share. Needless to say, MacGyver encouraged me to use my brains and to look past the geeky ackwardness that made be feel out of place in highschool. By the time I got to engineering school, I fit in perfectly with the other geeks.
Somehow I missed Stargate since I graduated from college about the time it came out. And since I was paying off college debt, i didn't have cable tv. I just discovered it on DVD and man, I love Rick's character Jack even more than Mac. What a character! I like to watch Stargate while doing homework for my Masters'. It is a very refreshing break and Jack provides a much needed laugh from time to time.
I now live in Minneapolis with my husband and two kids. I have just started showing my kids (ages 4 and 6) the first season of MacGyver and they are in love with the show. My daughter (age 6) thinks he is cute and loves to figure out what he's making next. My son (age 4) loves the hair and the fact that Mac helps people and uses his brain (his words not mine and that's a lot for an autistic child to say). So I have started the next generation of young MacGyver inspired problem solvers and love being able to watch one of my favorite actors with them.
Like Rick, I am a fan of outdoor activities (camping/hiking etc.) and protecting our environment. I have a cabin in the upper peninsula of michigan surrounded by national forest that I retreat to for quiet time away from the world where I can sit back enjoy family and listen to the wolves while watching the stars.
i look forward to meeting more of you on the board.

Yes - we are probably going to let the Jack cut grow out to the Mac cut....gotta try something else to manage the hair. He looks like animal from the muppets most of the time so we get it cut real short, but the mullet just might work on him. Of course hubby doesn't want that look _________________ “Typical.
