Back at Joe and Sam's residence, they are discussing Sam's inability to have a child.





Meanwhile, at a restaurant, Jack, Dr. Frasier, and Daniel are discussing the message they should send.



Daniel: This is the note I think we should send.
Dr. Frasier: That's it?
Daniel: The simpler the better.
Jack: Why don't we just stick (a note) on a rock and just throw it through?
Daniel: It would never make it through the automated defenses.



Jack: Can we at least mention who won the SuperBowl in 2004?
Daniel: NO.
Jack: The World Series?
Daniel: NO.
Jack: The Gray Cup?
Daniel: NO. I put it in my own handwriting so I'll be able to recognize it.
Jack: I think we should each write a note of our own. In case I don't make it to the gate, you can keep trying.

At Sam's and Joe's place, they continue to discuss the infertility issue = focusing on the fact that, as Sam reveals to Joe, the birthrate on the earth has been cut over 90%.



Joe: It's supposed to be 1/3 of that!
Sam: YOU KNEW?
Joe: The Aschen insisted on it. They knew if we didn't limit growth.........The population was unsustainable. The Aschen said if we didn't take drastic measures, we were not worth investing in. Sooner or later the Goa'uld would have wiped us out. Would you have preferred that?
Sam: The Aschen way is slower, that's all.



(Sam shows Joe the fake GDO and says:)
Sam: I need you to exchange this fake one with the one on the President's desk - and bring that one back to my lab. I need you to do this first thing tomorrow. Just come up with some excuse - I don't care what. But you can't say a word about what we've talked about or they will kill you.

At the Aschen Lab where Sam is working to predict a solar flare - Sam, Dr. Frasier, and Daniel are looking at the 3D model of the sun.



Jack enters the lab.



Sam to Dr. Frasier: You got your travel papers to Chulak? Give these to Teal'c - these are the coordinates he'll need.

Jack: Joe's here. Ambassador.
Joe: I knew you'd have something to do with this.



Jack: Did you get it?
Joe: Yes. What are you going to do with it?
Jack: Send a message.
Joe: To who?
Jack: TO WHOM! Let's have it.



Joe: I'll hand it over if you give me your word that Samantha will play no part in this.



Jack: I can't do that.

Joe: It's in a briefcase at the customs office at the Stargate terminal......give me your word.

Jack: We need her to pull this off.



Joe: Whatever it is, you'll have to do it without Sam. This is not negotiable. If you don't want to tell me what's going on that's fine. But if it involves GDO's, then it involves the Stargate and that terminal is the last heavily defended place on this planet. I will not let you risk Sam's life.

Jack: OKay.
Sam: You won't have backup.
Jack: We won't need it.



Daniel: The sun is beeping.
Sam: We have a flare prediction - 57 minutes from now. Is that enough time?
Jack: It'll have to do.

In the terminal building, Joe gives Jack the GDO.



Jack: The message goes in 6 minutes.
Joe: Sam wanted me to wish you luck.
Jack: Give her my best.

Sam and Joe argue outside the terminal building - since Joe wants them to leave and Sam wants to stay.



Meanwhile, Jack encounters Mollem in the terminal building on the 2nd floor.



Mollem: Colonel O'Neill?
Jack: Mollen....
Mollem: Mollem...
Jack: Sorry, the war.



Mollem: You didn't come to the Anniversary celebration.
Jack: What's to celebrate, I say.
Mollem: Surely the Aschen have proven your earlier misgivings erroneous.
Jack: Yes, you've certainly done your part.



Mollem: What brings you here?



Jack: Well you know my friend, Teal'c? I missed him at the celebration. He's coming in. I brought him ... a hat.
