It was really phantastic weekend but German Cons are very expensive.
One autograph ticket was 65 Euros, one phototicket 70 Euros and the M&G (which I didn't attend) about 400 Euros!!!
And to that you have to add the travel and hotel.

But Hell, yeah!
As soon, as I spared some money for the next event.
It was so worth every single cent!! A dream came true!
The prices for the autographs and photos seem to be about the same as in the US ( after conversion) , the meet & greet is expensive (but so special !!). As you said it was really worth it . Thanks again for sharing your experience(s) with us, ladies !

I'm working on updates at the moment, and I'm adding the "Schwäbisch" video.

I've written down what he said in German/Schwäbisch, but the captions were all capitalized, so I need help to know where the capital letters really belong.

Here's what I have:

Guten Abend. Ich bin Richard Dean Anderson, und, des isch so a bolla hitz, I würd jetz fei lieber an ois schlotza. Bitte. Danke. Auf Wiedersehen.

Thanks!

"Hitz" and "Ois" must start with a capital letter and you can remove the two commas in front of and behind Richard dean Anderson. Behind the word "Hitz" must either a dot punctuation mark or you must write the letter "I" as lowercase letters.

Thanks! In the captions on the video, they used a comma after "Hitz," so I'll leave it there. The capital "I" was mine, because "I" is always capitalized in English, so it looked funny without, but I'll fix it. I'll leave the commas around "und" too, just because that's the way he said it, throwing in the extra word he knew before the "script" started.

It's funny, the Schwäbisch dialect sounds almost closer to English to me than German does. I can sort of guess what the words represent, but the trick is getting it into a version that sounds correct in English. I'm kind of working with Monika's translation, what was posted on youtube, and limited helpfulness from google translate. I'm guessing that "schlotza" is the word that means "lick," but it sounds more like it should be "slurp." (One would slurp soup, for example, inhaling through your mouth and making a noise, and it could be the same for ice cream.) I figured out "lieber" means "rather" so it seems to say "I rather lick ice cream," but it sounds odd in English, so I'm hoping "I would rather be licking ice cream" is close enough. :)

Thanks for the help!

Isn't he also saying that it is so hot and that is why he would rather be licking ice cream? Thanks Kate.

The word "schlotzen" means "lick" in this context, "Schlotzer" means "pacifier" but you are quite right, it can also mean drinking with relish.

Thanks to Ilana (a Dutch Wild Loyalist met in Utrecht), I received this article. It is in German. I "google-translated" from german into english, In order that the english spoken fans can understand something. But of course, the german fans will translate better than I do...
At least, the text is already written... Perhaps someone could improve the text and perhaps Kate could use some informations.

At the end of the article, there are pictures from Mister Anderson.

https://www.starbesuch.de/2019/07/16/be ... er-feiner/

Report of the Comic Con Germany Stuttgart 2019 - Smaller in size but no finer.

For the fourth time, the Comic Con Germany (CCG) takes place from 29 to 30 June 2019 in Stuttgart at the exhibition center. However, the organizer (including FedCon in Bonn) decided this year to use the available space more optimally and to rent "only" a hall.

In spite of some prophecies of doom, this space-consuming "downsizing" has not become a debacle. Hall 1 will be fully utilized this year - areas such as the Lego area and fan groups have been moved to the gallery. The photo and autograph area has been moved to the vacated area. Everything is a little tight but sufficient. As a retreat space must serve the outside area, where there is a small medieval market this year. This can be seen as an answer or reaction to the CCXP in Cologne, which also offers such a market. The date duplication of both conventions has no effect on the number of visitors in Stuttgart. The corridors in the hall are very well filled and the dealers are probably doing good business.

Cosplayers walk around everywhere, taking pictures and presenting their imaginative outfits to each other. Cosplayers known in the scene, some of them specially flown in, are given a special photo area where they can show themselves and take pictures with them. If the visitors to the outdoor area feel too warm, they can come to the hall, which is pleasantly air-conditioned.

With "only" eight traveling stars the stage in the atrium is indeed sufficient. If this number increases significantly in the coming year, it is probably with a stage scarce. The awning on the glass roof has done its job - the temperatures in the atrium are moderate. Nessi moderates very well and jumps in when no more questions come from the audience. Otherwise, the team is usually friendly and competent.

Slightly sweaty takes the sympathetic Richard Dean Anderson the moderation of his panel even in the hand. He laughs a lot and repeatedly makes fun of himself, because he had "recently increased a bit".

At the beginning he becomes briefly political and apologizes as an American for Donald Trump, whereupon he receives his first round of applause. Anderson reflects and honestly states that his active TV career is over. He was now a family man and would finance his standard of living by attending conventions. This would be great fun, he would meet great people and travel a lot around the world.

Until his involvement in Stargate he was not a sci-fi fan. The figure of Colonel Jonathan "Jack" O'Neill is very different from that of Angus MacGyver. The former is much more serious and has little sense of humor.

With the figure of MacGyver he was known all over the world. When asked about specific consequences and logical mistakes, he replies that he does not even know what he would have eaten for breakfast - how is he supposed to remember the details of a series 30 years ago?

The structure of the MacGyver consequences has always been the same: There is a problem that secret agent or technology specialist MacGyver can always solve without weapons and with simple tools (including his Swiss Army knife) and a lot of creativity. Of course, the realism would not stand in the foreground. How often do you find on a lonely mountain suddenly a working lawnmower engine with which you just build a microlight? The series Mythbusters has just reconstructed this aircraft and has failed miserably, that is crashed (S06E06). The instructions for the construction of a simple bomb, he would see today as a father a little bit more critical. In a possible sequel or reboot, he would only be present as a (older) main character. The current new version of the series he and the audience rather unnecessary.

Ivan Rheon is already known to many con-visitors from the series Misfits, in which he portrayed the young offender Simon. This relatively small production was quite stressful and hard work. The Games of Thrones shootings in which he plays Ramsay Bolton, on the other hand, have been much larger and the great team has kept the stress under control.

He gets a lot of praise from the audience for his partly blatant performance. The "evil" role of Ramsay was very interesting, but it would not always be fun to portray an inhuman sadist. That's why some people shout at him while shopping and insult him. They do not distinguish between the role and him as an actor. His favorite scenes are on the one hand the shaving scene in season 4 and the conversation between Ramsay and John Schnee before the battle of the bastards.

Rheon grew up in Wales and went to high school in Cardiff. At that time, he wanted to be a rock star, played the guitar in a band and was able to incorporate this ability into his roles more often. He recorded an album in 2015 and is currently recording again to release a new CD in the future. At drama school in London he got hold of 17 first drama jobs and after some time, a lot of hard work and luck, he was cast at Game of Thrones. In 2017 he portrayed young Adolf Hitler and took on the role of Maximus in the Marvel series "Inhumans".

At the request of the audience, he sings a few bars and speaks a little Welsh, which brings him some applause

Jonathan Frakes and Brent Spiner are a well-rehearsed team. You have already delivered a kind of premium comedy program at the FedCon 2018 with the "Morning Show". Some elements are fixed and have proven themselves in the program. However, many gags arise spontaneously in conversation with spectators and fans. Like a stand-up program, entertaining keywords are always integrated into later numbers. Demand among con visitors is high and the atrium is very well filled. The two Star Trek performers always provide something for the eye. Either they provide still images for bizarre photos, dancing or singing for fans a birthday serenade.

Brent Spiner has wanted to have a look at Stuttgart in recent days and has bought a ticket for the S-Bahn for the transfer. To his surprise, this ticket did not want to control anyone. Why buy then, he wonders? In New York you can not get into the train station without tickets. Nessi complains that in Germany at the service areas without 70 ct tickets not get to the toilet. He makes the best of it and, with a wink, wants to use his "virgin" tickets for the coming days.

Jonathan Frakes reports on a convention in which the merchandise articles of his fellow actors have been sold at a high price. HIS figure, however, was a special offer for every sale.

Also very entertaining is that Jonathan Frakes takes himself with an X-Factor persiflage itself on the arm. He tells bizarre stories and then asks the audience mischievously "True or fiction?" This is how he makes the audience wonder: Would Mariana Sirtis dry her little Yorkshire terrier in the microwave or would "Worf" Michael Dorn allow herself an egg? to smash the head of Patrick Steward? Who knows?

The two actors make fun of themselves most. Brent Spiner needs to memorize and recite pseudo-scientific texts page by page in "Star Trek Next Genaration" as Android Data. Jonathan Frakes has it easier. As Commander Riker he simply says "Report!" / "Report" and can tell everything.

In the case of the obligatory series-specific technical questions, both help from series experts gets themselves in the front row. Brent Spiner reports that he invented Datas "Life Forms Song" spontaneously and still had the rights to it.

Jonathan Frakes reports that Marina Sirtis and he have been active as speakers in the Disney animated series "Gargoyles" and that the series may be filmed in the near future as a live action version.

Conclusion

The CCG Stuttgart has been smaller this year, but no less well done. It has been brave to optimize space, invite fewer celebrities and ultimately save costs. However, this must not be broken. If there are more stars (which we hope) or the weather is bad, this will cost new space in the hall and on stage.

In terms of the number of cosplayers, Stuttgart is leading and the competition is probably one of the most sought after in Germany. Their presence is a definite added value and brings a lot to the "convention feeling". The CCXP, which is taking place at the same time, seems to have had no effect on the onslaught of visitors.

"Competition is reviving the business," they say. In this sense, we wish that the quality of the event (s) does not deteriorate and ALL visitors, celebrities and the Con team continue to enjoy great and lasting fun!

Thank you! If it also means "pacifier" (for a baby?) then perhaps it is closer to "suck." I think that's the word Monika used. Normally, in English we "eat" ice cream, although we can also "lick" (a cone) or "slurp" (a melting cone), but I don't think you will often hear anyone refer to "sucking" ice cream. (Although that's almost what Mac does in the opening credits! )

Thanks for your help! I think "lick" is the safe alternative.

And I've finally finished the latest set of updates.

(Too bad there's not more from Miami or Knoxville.)
