Cakes - RDA Loves Cake - Anyone with Pictures
Since Rick sometimes mentions "Cake" has anyone got pictures of cake that they would like to share. Just so we can all drool over them, there are some pretty amazing looking cakes out there. Or even not cake but any yummy looking baking feats. (I must be feeling hungry haha)
I once made a "Chocolate and Orange Liqueur Multi layered cake" this thing took me about 8 hours, covered in pressed grated chocolate, each layer was soaked in liqueur, it was amazing and I carefully made all of the decorations by hand but it was so potent - my friends loved it and begged me to make another one, problem is that I don't like alcohol in the least and even if somebody attempts to hide it in baking I can actually still tell it's there. I have extreme taste buds LOL. I only made it because it looked so good - I never had any intention of eating it myself. But I wish that I had of taken a photo of it before they consumed it.

So AMAZING Stargate cakes. Love them. I want something like that on my birthday, but I wouldn't want to cut it, just staring at it.

WOW, you really wouldn't want to ruin any of them by cutting them. They are gorgeous.

Many moons ago when my Mum was alive, she would make the most beautiful and yummy cakes. Alot of her recipes came from The American Woman's Day magazine and Mum, practically raised me on these recipes in it. One of the best times of the year was Christmas time and around the cooler months June/July/ August, Mum would make her Christmas cakes. She start of buy studying the latest recipes and ingredients required for each one, the dried fruit needed, sultana's, raisins, cherries and other dried fruits; Plus the alcohol, which was often Sweet Sherry or the local Bundaberg Rum. My favourite and the yummiest was the Kentucky Christmas Fruit Cake. This cake says to use bourbon to stew the fruit for a couple of days. And the smell of the fruit, spices like cinnamon and nutmeg, the all spice... the booze was intoxicating and yet smelled so wonderful.
If any of you are interested in this recipe please let me know... as I know Mum would appreciate it.
These cakes are from the internet, aren't they beautiful?

With a coffee of course... my favorite is called a Hazelnut Ruffle and I always enjoy those with an iced coffee topped with cream....
Check out our local Perth eatery called Miss Maud. They make the most decedent cakes, pastry's around.
