Yes, it made my heart skip a beat also when I first watched this episode...as you say, they did a good job of keeping the suspense. And I also didn't want Janet Frasier to have to depart the show....but was glad it wasn't Jack. The scenes of Jack and Sam hugging are favorite ones of mine...so here they are again....

Finally - time for another screencap episode. This one is a favorite of many. It has 2 parts so it has many screencaps. Will start with part 1 tonight and hope to finish part 2 this weekend. (On my DVD it is just one part - one long part. But from Gateworld - and I thank them for the screencaps - it is in 2 parts.) Jack is shaving and doing a crossword puzzle when Daniel calls.
Jack: What?
Daniel: The monument on P3X-439 has a repository of the ancients. We should go there.
Jack: I'll be there in 1/2 hour. Wait, I need a 7 letter word: Up, Down, Charmed, blank.
Daniel: I told Sam I wouldn't help you.
Jack: Then this is the one thing she won't know.
Daniel: Strange.
Jack: Yeah, thanks anyway (hangs up).
Daniel: Wait that's the word you are looking for.

The scene shifts to Washington DC.....a woman is hailing a taxi to take her to the White House to meet with the President...
She finds herself in the Vice President's limousine....for what reason she has no clue.
We find out her name is Dr. Weir who hears him say:
VP Kinsey: There are very few people who could properly brief you for this Interview.
Dr. Weir: Interview?
Kinsey: How would you respond if I told you that the US is conducting top secret operations of an alien transportation device called a Stargate...
Dr. Weir: Is this a joke?
Kinsey gives her a note from the President: This is not a joke.
Kinsey - Gives her files and says: You might want to read up on this too.
She finds herself in the Vice President's limousine....for what reason she has no clue.

(Jack hands Sam the completed crossword puzzle.)
Sam: The fate of the world hangs in the balance and you have been in your truck finishing up this puzzle???
Jack: I believe it was double or nothing.
Sam: OK, the atomic weight of boron. The answer is 10. You wrote the word, "fat".
Jack: Your point? (grabs the puzzle back).
SG1 meets with General Hammond and 2 others in the conference room.
Gen. Hammond: Good morning, SG1. Nice of you to join us, Jack.
Jack: Good morning, sir.
Jack: How long have you been waiting there?
(Jack hands Sam the completed crossword puzzle.)
