Today's episode is "Cold Lazarus, an episode early on in the Stargate series.

Here is the summary of this episode as found in the episode's description found here in the Stargate section of Kate's wonderful website. Since this episode is a little bit "different", I thought putting this summary here might explain a lot for the entire episode.

"On P3X-562, the team discovers a valley of blue crystals. When O'Neill touches one, he is struck down by its powerful energy, and a duplicate O'Neill appears. Returning to Earth, the duplicate seeks out Sara, O'Neill's estranged wife, and their son Charlie who died years earlier. Meanwhile, the real O'Neill returns through the gate, and SG-1 learns that the crystals are really energy beings. In a final encounter, the duplicate explains that he wanted only to heal the injured O'Neill, but that his greatest pain was the loss of his son, a grief that O'Neill is only now able to accept."

The duplicate Jack comes back to the SGC with his fellow SG1 team members who have no idea he is not the real Jack O'Neill....









The duplicate Jack looks in his counterpart's locker to find memorabilia that will help find the source of the pain in Jack's heart....

Sam to Daniel: I didn't know the Colonel was married and had a son. Daniel: He was married and he did have a son.



Duplicate Jack refuses to take Teal'c to look at "his world" as he had promised some time ago...because he had other more pressing things on his mind.

He gets the address for his former home off some mail in his cigar box...



Meanwhile, Sam and Daniel and others continue to investigate the meaning of these blue crystals....



And the duplicate Jack pays a visit to his old home...which is still Sara's house.

Duplicate Jack looks over some things belonging to his son Charlie...and he has the memories of the real Jack flooding into his mind...

Those memories include that fateful day when Jack and Sara heard a gunshot - because their son Charlie accidentally shot himself with Jack's gun....

Meanwhile back at the SGC - the investigation into the crystals continues....





And the ORIGINAL Jack returns there....not understanding why his team left him on the planet....





Jack is taken to a holding cell since General Hammond and the others don't know exactly who he is - since there is apparently a "Jack" already there.
Jack: Get me the hell out of here. Daniel and the others: Sounds like our Jack...
