Geez, this Forum just exploded while I was out. I guess that's the solution - give people a project to work on.

I don't think it's really necessary for people to collect only from certain countries. Here in the Forum we know each other better, but when word spreads to other lists, it might actually be more complicated if people feel that certain countries must send only to certain people. (I've had a few confused questions already.) Back when we collected postcards for his birthday one year, we had cards from places like Mauritius and Singapore - there is no way that assigning specific countries will be able to cover all the possibilities.

Thank you to all the volunteers. I'd just like to be able to list your emails and the countries where you live so that fans can send cards to any one of you who is familiar or nearby. As long as you are willing to share your home mailing address with the people who contact you, then any cards that you collect would be welcome.

I did rent a P.O. box today, so I will be able to collect some too.

I was out at appointments most of the day, but I'm back now and will try to put together some kind of email that can be shared with other fan groups.

Nice to see the enthusiasm! I know it will give RDA a smile (and maybe even bring a tear as well.)

I think two envelopes are excellent because the second one needs stamps!!! Will cost a lot if one if you nice volunteers must pay for 30 or more cards!!
Have just come home - great idea ladies.

So, the main question is how to let RDA know what country each card is from, right?

Maybe Kate can give insight into how is the best way to manage this question.

Kate - thank GOD you are back online!

Yes, it's been a busy day and now has become a bit confusing for us as well.

But progress is being made.

I can gather cards from anywhere - but I thought we were trying to keep it to certain countries out of convenience for those sending the cards and also for the card coordinators. But we can just make it open for people to send their cards to wherever it seems best for them.

We also need to know what to tell those who ask us about how to send their cards: Do we want them to write their country somewhere inside the card so Rick can see that information when he opens the card?

There are other questions JK, and Frenchwriter, and Tvero have as well.
