Argh! I thought I turned off notifications, but I just got a notification of this last post.

Okay, I (think) I've deactivated all board notifications. Let's see if that makes a difference in speed.

Re: Website Upgrade

So far I haven't done anything. In fact, until last night, I couldn't even get the page to load in order to TRY anything. I had upgraded the phpbb version, which worked, and I had changed the email address, which worked. But the blank screen and error messages seem to be due to the 500+ replicators ...

Re: Website Upgrade

<ggrrr> No! I didn't get those either! Not since early Saturday morning. I responded, but now I wonder if you got MY email?

I think I need a little more hand-holding before I go messing with system files.

Re: Website Upgrade

I haven't done a thing! In fact, until just now, I haven't been able to get the page to load at all! I was just about ready to give up and create a whole new forum. So it seems the whole problem has to do with robots overwhelming the resources. Skurk, I'll be talking to you about how to kill...

Re: Website Upgrade

I just updated to the newest version of the phpbb. (My computer and I had words, but I think I finally got it to work.) Right now, I don't seem to be getting the 500 error message. Let's see if that lasts. But then I got a notification that JB5 had posted to this thread. But I don't see it. Unless t...

Re: Website Upgrade

Even the cookie trick isn't working now. :?

Do you think it would help if I just created a brand new forum with a new address like "phpbbforum" and tried to import all the data into it so that it would take the spambots a little longer to find it??

Re: Website Upgrade

Its definitely a cache problem. Everytime I'm able to delete the board's cookies its normal. Yes 500 plus users online maybe causing this ... there is something going on.. 🧐 Most users ever online was 546 on Fri Apr 26, 2024 10:07 am 🧐 I try to find out more a bit later. But fingers crossed Kate, y...

Re: Website Upgrade

<sigh> I'm still getting the 500 error too. Okay, a little later, I'll try updating the PHP version. Just be aware that the whole Forum is likely to crash for a time until I can figure out how to get it to work again. It's the only other thing I can think of. I had switched both the Updates mailing ...

Re: Website Upgrade

As much as I'd like to take credit for that, I haven't done a thing. It seems that it was just gremlins. All of a sudden I got a whole bunch of delayed emails regurgitating into my inbox all at once, as if it was finally catching up. I don't know what the problem was, but it doesn't seem t...
